CP-e extension V6 - DONE w/ pics

Postby Sebas007 » Sun Jul 22, 2007 7:45 pm

Hey hey funny !! ;)
I've a full buddle of hundread of ZIP-tie !

Here the update of phase 2

I file down the gray paint.
Image

I connected my kill switch (DOH the rubber caps off !!)
Image

Then connect everything. (I file down after taking this pic)
Image

I use this to complete my connection on my 2 gauge size wire.
Heating up this particular rubber makes it retract on its self and stick stongly to the wire making the connection very very strong.
Image

Now here the hole in the firewall from inside (behind brake pedal area)
See the cramp iron. Tomorrow will drill an 3/4" hole...will have to go buy the 3/4" bit. I will then add a gromet to make it clean.

Phase 3 (Final one)
- Drill the 3/4" hole in the firewall (I'm 1/2" hole right now)
- Put the gromet
- Pass the wire near the strut tower bar with tie-wrap !! (a lot !!) haha
- Do my connection with the stock positive terminal with a homemade custome plug adapter. Using bolt, washer and nut.
- Take off the stock negatve
- Cut the proper shape in the "wood" extra wheel cover.
- Cut some part of the carpet.

The wosrt is made ! I'm hurry to put this swtich to ON position (its locking firmly when switching to ON)

tie-wrap fest. Don't worry I trimmed them before finishing anything !

Thru the firewall (inside the car)

Trunk floor cutted

The floor carpet cutted

Thru the firewall in the engine bay. (The grommet was a bit pain in the ass to put !!). Had to buy a 3/4" drill steel bit to make the hole.
Image

Look "clean" inside. (I know it is a bit dusty ! ) ;)
Image

Finally made my connection on the stock bolt on the stock positive terminal

Car in fire !! :P j/k

Finishing my connection, I saw that my CP-e pipe had 1 little hose loose. I put it back and I really feel a difference in power...don't know if the filter gets colder air or if the CP-e now acts like it suppose to do...anyway :)

Add an extension to the CP-e to get colder air...if you look to my other thread...we made a little experiement using 3 temp sensor on 3 different spot. Conclusion in front battery area is the best spot overall (coldest air was in the fog light area...but too much 90 bends to get there !!)...easy to reach with an stable air flow need something around 5.5" to get stable after my future 45 degrees elbow extension.

Quick answer...I will get 25F less then stock location. Thumb rule is for each 5F diff you gain 1% air density. For air density % you got 0.75% hp
(25/5) * .75 = 3.75% hp * 225 (stock 3MZ) = 8.5 hp

With the future add of hte JPP exhaust system...it will surely help to have a better intake air temp.

Yeah right ?? Why ?!? Find it funny since it comes from nowhere !! Maybe it's because you mean that I'm just searching new things to do on my car isn't it ??

For navigation...I'll wait until the display screen upscale. I like pretty much the option and everything on an HD Eclispe nav...but still the screen display look like and old atari game. It does the job but I'm sure they will come up with something smoother...like the evolution of mapquest.com and googlemap.

Need help about diagnosticate a problem I've since I relocate my battery.
The problem is that the engine "hesitate" when I'm trying to keep some speed, espacially if it revs higher than 4000 RPM.

Example I'm trying to keep a 70 MPH in 3rd gear...it is like the car slow down just a tiny bit and go normal and does it randomly. If I gun it...it will be fine (I think the ECU knows that it has to open it up...) samething when I left the throttle...the ECU knows that I don't ask for anyting. It does the strange thing only when I try to keep a pace. I got check engine 3 times...I reset the battery twice...the last time it appears I continue on my way and I got a problem...no more power steering, tachometer (RPM) was reading 0 RPM, , oil and battery gauge light up...I took first exit I can and and park far from the highway...I panic 5 minutes checking CP-e connections and everything I can...and I retry it (no battery disconnection nothing else then restarting it) and it work "fine". I went back home cruising on cruise control at 60 MPH (under 2000 RPM).

Things to know
- I verify and I get a 11.7 - 12.5 volts at my positive terminal
- I verify CP-e mapping and it still the same I put last time
- I even move the terminal a bit away from any sensor in the engine bay.

Questions
- What does it makes if the negative cable do not make contact properly ??
- Do you think guys that a big gauge wire (it is gauge 1 ) can produce too much magnetism field to be route near the sensor in the kick panel as the pic under show ?

Image

What do you think it could be ??
