To Debadge or Not To Debadge

Postby 00seV6man » Thu Jul 12, 2007 11:42 am

I just de-badged my 2000 DWP 'Lara. I am VERY happy now!! Toyota put tooo many damn badges on the thing! I removed the 'toyota' and the 'solara' badges and both 'v-6' and 'se' badges on the sides.
Much Much cleaner look! and even tho my paint is 7 yrs. old, it still blended in very nicely with a little Zymol wax. i didnt even use the goo-gone I bought from wal-mart... goin back there to get my 8 bucks back!

I took off the "Toyota" on the back of mine. I like the "SLE V6" on the sides. Not a big fan of people taking off "Solara". I can see takin off the toyota emblem but not the name of the car. just my opinion.

^^ I dont feel a need to advertise the model of my car. If people dont know what it is, they dont need to know...

I'm really thinking about taking mine off. I took the stupid dealer sticker off the back of mine they day I bought it. It came off really easy.

Probably going to wait until I get some nice wheels before I get rid of everything. Might as well keep it looking 100% stock tell then.

None of the emblems on the rear trunk lid of gen 1/1.5 Solaras have holes. They are all stuck on using 2-way tape.

if you can, go for it. It looks nice, I can't debadge my solara, since underneath the badges the paint is awful, and chipped and just looks like ass. Mines a 99' so I don't know if anyone else has had this problem before, but eventually I am going to get the whole car painted blue.

It did, very effectively.

just use something with soft texture to wipe it off, like a dishwashing sponge with the green side.

Then it'll look like it broke off, and people will think your car is ghetto.
It's a matter of personal taste overall, but I think that removing the word Solara makes the trunk look like that of a souped up civic or old accord. The reason why, is that those cars came with plates mounted on the trunk, and their owners shave that and relocate the plate to the bumper below, leaving an ugly looking empty space where the plate used to be. Removing the word Solara creates a similar looking void on the trunk. On the other hand, removing the word Toyota seems pretty cool, since the font of it is really old and blocky looking, unlike the curvaceous T logo and the Solara lettering.
