SLE and TRD springs

SLE and TRD springs

Postby vuuuuu » Mon Jul 23, 2007 7:36 am

Hi all, I've been trying to search on the forums for a specific topic regarding using TRD Springs with an SLE. I haven't been very successful with finding whether or not someone has actually used TRD Springs with an SLE model Solara.

Are there any people out there that are using their SLE struts with TRD springs, or any lowering springs for that matter? I am curious whether it has been successul? As in.. if it's smooth or bouncy?

I've seen many pictures of the TRD drop and it seems alright with me.

Thanks guys

there are a few people with sle and trd/eibach drop and it seems to be a little bit bouncy. i myself have an sle but strut swapped with the se sport struts and eibach drop. its still a little bouncy either way.

Hopefully this is reduced a bit compared to an Eibach drop because the TRD is less of a drop. Did you change the struts/springs at the same time? Did you get to feel the SLE struts with the lowered springs at all?

So are you wanting to run stock SLE struts/shocks with the TRD springs? I have read that as a significantly worse ride quality.

However, if you get the TRD struts/shocks or SE Sport struts/shocks, I read it was not as bad.

But anything other than stock, will be a noticable difference in ride quality I believe (not 100% sure though)

vuuuuu: i actually did the swap all at once. im somewhat satisfied on my ride quality but since im in the higher mileage club for the gen2's im thinking i might get coilovers within a yr or so.

philosophicaljt: there are no trd struts/shocks for gen2's....just se sport struts, sle struts, and coilovers

as for the quality i feel more bumps on the road esp with low profile tires but get a rsb also if u want to lower

DON'T DO IT!!! :o

Trust me - you'll hate it! The ride is like a bouncy cholo-mobile... and you'll actually get motion sickness going down the freeway! :honda:

If you're going to get lowering springs, do yourself a favor and get some SE sport struts to go along with it. The SLE struts are just too soft! (and who wants a "limp" ride anyway?) ;)

Is that a certain model of the Teins? or are you saying Tein Coilovers in general? I was looking at which models they offer, and it seems the Tein SS is the only one offered for the Solara.

Also, where did you get yours? Optionimports.com sells them for $1250 I believe.

Go on the nice site of Tein ( :-? what a ugly site !!!)
http://www.tein.com/ti/l68-mcv31l.html

There you go...1250$ is in the price range they sell it.
Use google with keyword DSL68-KUSS2 (Tein part number) and verify that it is for V6 not I4 (the 2 product as the same part no on tein.com)

$1229

So, I'm going to be buying some eibach springs soon.

In order to do the SE sport strut swap, is there anything special I need to know?
