Wierd Problem...

Ok so I get in my car tonight and the door chime doesn't sound, nor does the interior light come on. When I crank the engine, my headlights come on, but they are off. When I get home, my door chime works along with the light inside. Anyone know what this could be or even if the headlights are connected with the chime/interior. The Chime problem isn't a biggie I know it has been a problem for the previous owner, the car sometimes locks itself. It doesn't really bother me since I keep a spare in my wallet. Thanks

If it's just the headlights only and the stuff that comes on with the parking lights (e.g. the front side makers and the back), it's just your DRL.

As far as the chime/interior lights, it might be that your switch is stuck or malfunctioning; you might want to lube the button a bit or check the wiring (rarely the case).

As far as it locking itself, do you have the factory alarm or is it aftermarket? The only time the factory alarm locks itself is when you haven't opened a door for 60 seconds, but that is also under the pretenses of your door ajar switch is working properly.

No it is a factory alarm system, and it worked fine tonight to my knowledge, but I don't want this to be a problem and I really want to avoid taking it to Toyota, even though I will have to soon, it is about 50k miles overdue for the 100k service. Oh and what is a DRL?

I really hope its not haunted!

^^What he said... Usually the lights come on at reduced strength to increase your visibility to the idiots we unfortunately have to share the road with, but not everybody wants them.

As far as the door issue... If it is actually the button, just remove the rubber cover from the door ajar sensor (located near the door latch) and squirt a bit of silicone grease onto it, then put it back on.
