i was doing a HID projector retrofit, and because the glare on the reflector housing is really bad, i paint the chrome to black.
what do you think? black headlight on a white car doesn't match?

i uploaded some picture of progress at HIDplanet.com

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=301936#301936

i used Audi bixenon RS6 projectors that i bought long time ago
as long as you have the right tool, it is not too dificult,

i found dremel very helpful cutting the reflector bowl,
jigsaw saw very handy when cutting aluminum bracket to hold the projector, i've tried to use a hand saw , oh my god, take 5 minutes of good exercise to cut a bracket while only take 10 or 20 seconds with jigsaw.

most of the mounting screws can be found at home depot.
i customed the shroud using walmart coffee cups.

i don't know how much i spent, but not too much maybe $450 to $500, that includes spare headlights, 2 ballasts, 2 D2S bulbs, projectors, custom wire harness, most of them are time and power tools.

i give all credits to the guy JnC at HID planet, his idea of mounting the projector make it very flexible.

i really hope you get black corners with that...
i hated it at first but now I kinda like it. not too shabby.

But for those who love,

Wow, great job! I agree, you need to paint the corners - the fogs would be cool too.

here is a night shot inside my garage, 2 or 3 ft to wall shot, comparison between H4 and HID projector.

with the HID projector, a lot more light, spread evenly on road, , no two big ass hot spots, and alot less glare above cut off line.

to me, the color is uneven, the cutoff is somewhat blurred primarily on the left side, and the corners definitely need to be painted.

excellent job on doing the whole retrofit by yourself. that is a whole heck of alot better than most first timers.
