Did you get any kind of folder/portfolio for your owner's manual and paperwork?

I know it is an odd thing to ask about, but I did not get one and I was wondering if anyone else did.

Thanks for humoring me

my car was new (had never been titled) but I got a rubberband as my 'folder' and the salesman said he would look into it...that was over a month ago... so I drove the 2 hours to the dealership because everytime I call I get the run around and he tried telling me that they dont give you ANYTHING with new cars anymore. Keep in mind that he would not unlock the door to any of the other new cars on the lot for me to look in them. Luckily my dad met me there and was driving my mom's 05 Highlander which just happens to have a folder in it.

I know it's a small thing, but anyone who works in customer service/sales knows that it is the small things that can make a big difference. And this is just one more small thing on a heap of others...I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't wrong about new cars getting folders before I add it to my list.

I got an owners manual, no binders or portfolios for my 2006 or any that I've seen. I'm sure if you open up any new solara on any lot and look in the glove compartment you'll see an owners manual not much more. Some dealers Have a crappy plastic storage thingy to put all your crap in but mine didn't. You're wasteing your time with this..don't sweat the small stuff..

well, that's your dealer. My dad picked up a '07 camry and it cae with a vinyl cover to stick the reciept and insurance card in. the Scions give you a nice portolio/binder thing but I've been in a *LOT* of Camry's and Solara's and never saw more than the owners manual and tire warranty.

I got a manilla folder and was told the finance guy would give me the vinyl thing. He didn't have a clue. Dealers are getting real cheap. No license plate bracket and nothing for the manual. Then the BS about the floormats. Purchased the dark charcoal and are a perfect colr match for a dark stone interior. Tried telling them that and was basically called a liar.

Thanks for reminding me, I need to fill out my dealer review sheet still

You can pick up a license plate bracket for less than 20.00. "Should" come w/ the car but they don't. Search on license plate brakcet for the part number if you're interested. IMHO it was well worth the 18 bucks or so. Funny but I have dark stone(FB10) along with the dark stone mats and I see no color diference. The Charcoal was for the sport models I believe. When I look at the mats in direct sunlight they look grey. when placed on the flor perfet match..the charcoal is way to dark.. Go figure.. These are little things anyway. The sport pedals give you a lot of bang for the buck but they are a pain to put on.. Enjoy the car.

Those who didn't get the manual got the "extra roomy" glove box at no additional charge.

Lucky You! I couldn't fit Phreakin napkins in mine for all the crap the dealer gave me.

My 2006 has a very nice portfolio. Enough room for all the manuals. The snap on the cover is the same as what is used on the seat belt loop on the Solara convertible front seat back. On the outside right lower section is a raised metal emblem with the Toyota logo.

When I bought the car I negotiated a price for it. I didn't consider the inclusion of some portfolio/organizer to stick my manual in. Maybe if I just paid sticker and handed the guy cash I woulda got one of those cool organizers you buy at staples for 5 bucks.

Well, see I didn't negotiate price and I didn't trade in. I did get a heck of a deal on the car because it was an 06 that they had not sold yet. I got pre approved financing through Toyota Credit, called the salesman and made an appointment (since the dealer is 2 hours away I wanted to make sure it went as smooth as possible)...but when I got there the car wasn't cleaned, I spent 3 hours there, they screwed up my paperwork-I got a letter in the mail from an outside financing company that the dealer had contacted (with out my permission) saying that I would not be financed for the car (after I had it for a month)

I didn't ask for a lot for the hassle, a portfolio for my paperwork (which I have always recieved in a new car) and some touch up paint...the salesman told me (when I confronted him about how long it has been since I have heard anything) that Toyota was no longer doing the portfolio thing and that he could not find one ANYWHERE. I just wanted to see if it was a dealer thing or a Toyota thing...now I know it is a dealer thing.

Sounds like a crappy dealer. Can't imagine what happend with the financing dept..No wonder you're sceptical. the '08s are almost out and they hadn't got around to selling this '06 till now..I know the 4cyl auto's don't move too fast but almost 2 years ?? Enjoy the car. I swear I can take you to 2 toyota dealerships, open up every camry and solara glovebox and all you'll see is a paper owners manual, and the warranty for the tires.
