Convertible Seat Belt Strap Fix?

Convertible Seat Belt Strap Fix?

Postby Gadgetjq » Wed Jun 06, 2007 3:30 pm

Hey Ragtop owners.

The magnetic snap on the seat belt holder 'loop' just isn't getting the job done on my car.

I've tried beefing it up experienting with rubber bands, zip ties and Velcro but none seem to be the perfect solution (Velcro glue doesn't want to stick to leather).

Rather than continue trying to re-invent the wheel I thought I'd check with the forum to see if that wheel has already been created.

Short of gluing the magnet halves together (just as impractical as the zip ties and rubber bands) has anyone found a way to get the loop to 'stay' a loop without releasing the seat belt until you actually 'want' it to so people can climb into the back seat?

Brainstorming ideas accepted.

Cheers

They lasted for about a month before I gave it up. But I have long arms and don't mind reaching for them.

Mine work fine unless I get overly aggressive yanking on it and the belt's twisted. Then again, I'm pretty tall so the seat is ALL the way back so there isn't much tension on them.

My GF is pretty short so it's too long a reach for her without the loop closed, but getting people in and out of the back is a cinch with it popping off easily. Its only when they forget to re-loop it when they get in/out that she might have an issue with it.

FWIW - I NEVER let people get in/out on the driver's side. With the elect. seat and I have the back adjusted just right, I just tell them the seat doesn't go up. Hell - They can fuggin' walk if they don't like it! ;)

I don't use the seat belt loops. Not worth the trouble. I can reach the belt easily without using them, even though I'm not very tall, so the seat isn't back that far.
