Question for Gen 2/2.5 owners

Ok I have only had my car now for a month and I looked through the manual but I cant figure out why I have 2 sensors on my dash. I know one is for the Automatic Lights but whats the other one for? I posted a pick so that way you know what Im talking about. You can actually see it better on the windshield reflection. I know this may sound crazy or stupid but its bugging me everytime I begin to drive and I see it LOL. 8)

Mine just has a plastic button there, so maybe it has something to do with the interior temperature. My car is a base SE with the standard A/C, heat and ventilation.

One is for auto lights, and the other is for auto climate control.

Frico, why are your mats so much lighter that the rest of your carpeting? That's wierd.

Also, you know you CAN take that sticker off your HU just above the CD player

I so much like the steering wheel on the 2.5 better. I'm starting to get dicoloration around the buttons, but I don't think you'll have that problem with the silver there.

The only thing I think Toyota used retarded thinking on was the gauge cluster. The right gague (fuel & water) do not have the lights centered behind the dials like the gen2 does. Would look much better IMO.

MCOjerry I have the exact interior and busted the dealers balls about the mats. They said the leather interior specs out the "stone" mats not the charcoal. Then suggested I buy the $100 mud mats that are darker. After a while the color has grown on me, and adding the OBX pedals makes all the difference. Surprisingly the stone mats are staying clean but that won't last when the snow starts flying.

Threadjack.

Will Gen 2 grills fit on the 2.5?

Also has anyone removed the visors that have homelink?
I can't see stop lights when at the line and have to bend over. The driverside is useless to me and is causing neck problems.

I hope you've removed the sticker off your stereo by now.
(It should read "Hey moron... just because it's a 6-disc head
unit doesn't mean you can jam in 6 CDs at once! Did we really
have to tell you this?")

And they really lightened up the fake wood on the SLE.

That's crazy! I had no idea that the other one was for auto lights, lol!

The other one is for the temperature sensor on the car. I found that out because one day I left some papers on the dash there, and my car read 93*. I was all WTF, that's not right! and I move my papers. In the span of a few seconds, it jumped up to 104* where it should have read. Food for thought :)

P.S. Want to trade me steering wheels? Or even tail lights? What about that 6-disk changer as well? You know you want to ;) !

The sticker was removed from the cd player, the pic was taken the first day I had my car. I took three days off to play with my new toy. Since I bought it on a Tuesday I didnt have to go back to work till next Monday LOL. Thank You all for answering my questions. Thats what I love about this place everyone is very helpful. About the mats just like Sparky5e said. The mats were spec with the leather. It actually doesnt look bad at all. Since the pic has a shadow making it look darker then it should. I actually like it matching the leather instead of the carpet. Again I want to Thank You all for answering my question.

What do you mean D2C? Looks like the same amount of fake wood I have. I wish I had a choice of something else besides the wood...I don't understand why all auto mfrs think people like fake wood so much.

RDK, are you talking about the temperature display on the dash? I don't think that the sensor has anything to do with that, it's for the climate control. It somehow sensed the amount of light and stuff to adjust the fax speed automatically. I'm not sure, really, what it does EXACTLY...but I don't think it's for the temp readout on the dash.

Jerry, D2C was talking about the color. It's lighter in the '07 than previous SLE's. Could be wrong here but isn't the SLE the only model with wood trim from the factory? If so then there's your non wood option.

Cheers

What I meant was an SLE option for no fake wood.
