Well today i was leaving work, and i was like where the F are my keys? I started freaking out, and eventually made my way back to the car, only finding that i left the keys in the ignition and the car running for four hours straight. Sucks tho, because i was getting killer milage, 340 miles per full tank, i think i lost roughly half a gallon idling that long. Anyways, we should have a contest in Gen 1 Section, seeing who can get the most out of their tanks.

Losing half a tank? That sucks. But at least nobody stole your car.

505 miles on a full tank mostly highway miles...
plus a little street.

15.96 gallons when I filled up.

I drove to Vegas and back on one TANK from LA (San Dimas Glendora Location)

Engine was 2.4 2AZ-fe Motor Auto Tranny
traveling about 80 to 90 MPH using cruise control most of the way

505 thats really good!!

I got really good mileage when I went home this past weekend...447 when I filled up, the light wasent even on yet. So i would assume its around 16/17gallons I used...26.2-28MPG

I'm sure I could have gotten a little more out of it....

wait wait....i think the real question here is how do you leave the keys in the ignition with the car running and not hearing your car running? or better yet not even think about locking your car with your keys? sorry i just never heard anything like this before

What engine do you have? It's a bit bizarre since I've left the car running before and still hear it 12 feet out... Even more when the radiator fans kick in, and I have a light hearing problem!

I know, inside is another thing where some days you can barely hear the ignition crank when you start, or have to watch the tachometer just to avoid "double-starting" the car. However I'm sorry; I seriously don't get how one just leaves their car sitting for 4 hours unnoticed, especially from a personal standpoint of making double sure the car is locked by remote before letting the car out of my sight!

Glad nobody stole your car though; even a Pinto would be gone in a New York minute if the window isn't rolled up all the way in SoCal! As for the gas mileage, I'll have to keep track of it now that you mention; I usually have a short commute, so just strictly working + the occasional "I'm too lazy to pack lunch run" could get me by for 2 1/2 weeks on a V6, but then again I don't know when was the last time I did that since I'm almost always out on the weekends.
