Cosmic Blue Paint: hard for a body to match?

Cosmic Blue Paint: hard for a body to match?

Just got my car back from a body shop(hit Bambi, deer not dancer at the local club.) Picked it up after dark and looked at it the next morning, hood seems to have patches where the blue does not look right, under the clear coat layer. Is this color hard to do a uniform color repaint on or just a guy who had a bad day with the paint gun?

Thanks for the reply but my car is a 2007 so the paint issue would not be a problem.

I had the same issue with mine (Lunar Mist Metallic). Had to have back bumper replaced, and when they did it, the color was slightly yellowish...they blamed it on the plastic...can't get an exact color match. I guess they could have been telling the truth, since I also (later date) hace to have the front bumper and hood replaced, and those turned out fine. Dealer did it both times.

If actually have patches of discoloration, I'd take it back and complain. Make them do it until it's right.

EDIT: first accident, my car was only 3 weeks old, so no paint fade as an excuse for me either...

You gotta call these bastards out!

I've been painting and around body shops since I was 16 - and when its done right, it WILL MATCH!!

First of all - NEVER pick up a car unless you can REALLY check it out in the day light and make sure they don't rush you either!

If it doesn't look like a perfect match - DON'T take delivery of the car!! Make sure you always leave them expecting a final payment or sign-off for insurance money before you take delivery.

I know - too late this time, I'm sure, but lesson learned.

If it doesn't match - then it's THEIR problem - not yours! A good paint man can even match faded paint if they know what they're doing!

My GF got her right rear quarter panel smacked and long story short, the body shop ended up repainting over half of the car and doing a total wet sand and buff of the rest of the car before we released final payment to them. Sure, it took a few extra days without her car, but to this day you would never be able to tell it ever had any body/paint work done to it.

Thanks for all the help. Took it back and they did something to the hood that seemed to take care of the problem and in two weeks I go back and they are repainting a fender.
