Squeaking TRD Springs w/TRD sway bar

Postby MrMikeL » Thu Jun 07, 2007 1:56 pm

First, I want to apologize for reviving an old thread. I searched and searched, but this is the closest I could get without opening a new post.

Anyway, I have the TRD RSB and I have been experiencing the squeaking problem for a couple of months now, but I wasn't sure if the problem was the RSB bushings needing to be re-lubed, or TSB SU002-06 (thumping suspension). The car is in the shop today and, luckily, it's just the RSB bushings needing to be re-lubed. BTW, the estimate for applying this TSB after warranty is over $700!

Problem: they said the bushings are wearing out. I've only had the thing on for about 15 months now. Is this normal? Is there some periodic maintenance I should be doing, like re-lubing it every other oil change??

Question: if the bushings DO need to be replaced, is this a simple part to get even though the RSB is after-market? Can you get the bushings for the TRD RSB from an auto parts store or from TRD? Are bushings “standard” or specific to an application?

Thanks everyone!

Thank God I performed SU002-06 at 30k. $700 for replacing the struts and supports? Yikes :o

LUBE LUBE LUBE LUBE LUBE!!

Get a can of Lithium grease and squirt it into the bushings.

I also use a silicone spray on all the other moving parts in the suspension and that eliminates any squeaking I get.... except for the front Sway Bar that doesn't fit right - that's a once-a-week lube job!

As far as the TRD bushings go, you mike check with Reggie (NVDIS1) to see if they can be ordered separately.

PXLpainter, I was thinking about your FSB... we can see you still have the Whiteline mix-up installed. Any updates on the issue? My 3y/36k warranty is up in a few weeks and I am eager to install the RSB and the FSB if it exists...

You can get the TRD components just fine - the RSB (rear Stabilizer Bar) and the FSTB (Front Strut Tower Brace) and they work great.

If you follow my thread on the Whiteline Front Sway Bar - you'll be able to track the "S L O W" dev process that will be taking because I'm dealing with a distributor here and a manufacturer in Australia. I wouldn't expect anything for a month or two at best, and I doubt we'll get very many takers on a GB in this forum either, so who knows if they'll even go through with it in production.

I may just end up going back top stock as well. Sux.
