About Tein SS coilovers

Hey guys, i have 16" stock rims with 215's tires and im planning on getting the Tein Super Streets.....i live here in San Francisco but im kinda worried about all the major potholes n bumps all over this city.....i dun have enuff money to get larger rims with tires to accommodate the lowered inches and i hear teins lower min. of -1.8 Front/ -2.2 Rear.......really dont wanna be scraping too much.....any solutions from you guys?

Don't lower your car?

Some people will say to raise the coilovers to a higher height, but honestly it wouldn't be a dramatic difference.

My car is pretty low on the stock 16s and I don't scrape anywhere. If you drive carefully enough, you'll be fine.

I have Tein SS's and was living in SF until about 6 months ago... no major problems with potholes, and I'm on 18's... your 16's will be fine.

By the way, are you inferring that the size of the wheel/tires will impact the riding height of your car? If you do it correctly, it won't...

I don't scrape much, but I DO NOT have the sport kit... I'm close to scraping on a lot of driveways though, so if you have the sport kit, watch out... see signature and webpage for some pics.

So you can find what works for you. Then when you get cash you can change it up for the new rims.

thx guys....needed sum info help on them...now i cant wait 2 get my teins...i have enuff money to slam down but ill be broke so imma need about another month to make sure of financial stability....man im hyped up lol

I think you'Re wrong...you can but it is not in the ideal range. Ideal range for Gen 2 V6 is from 2 to 3 inch drop. From 0 to 2 inch drop it may feel very unconfortable and be dangerous...I take this from Tein support thereselves !!

I have a thread on the subject (bottom of page 1...the letter I received from them..I was asking them if I could drop it less than 2"...between 0-2"..

Sorry, but that is the minimum drop you can achieve with our coilover kit. We do not offer anything else that can raise the car any higher. You can get approximately an inch of adjustment for the front and rear.

We state that our products are for "off-road use only" because this is a height adjustable kit. Because you can alter ride height, the end user is responsible for whatever state laws and regulations they violate by altering ride height. Regulations vary from state to state. It is still a street coilover kit.

I live in the richmond district right next to fillmore...closer to the downtown side and Tenderloin......roads r horrible around this area.....my brother used to have a '97 civic dx hatchback with ground control coilovers and he used to scrape almost anywhere with a speed bump or nasty deep pothole....even on driveways he tried best to carefully angle his car in to prevent scraping but it would still scrape....he doesnt remember how much he lowered his car n i wouldnt know what a good height to lower out here would be.....

just go with springs rather than coils man.. since u drive in the city..
trust me on that i took my jics thru there and i was hurtin

go with tien drop springs and some upgraded struts that should suffice in giving you a lower look while still maintaining ride quality..

and since your in the city any other good prime rib places besides house of prime rib???
