I had the same problem except that my car was still under warranty... after they fixed the problem tho... they scratched my tint.
They reimbursed me for the tint repair.

****window derail serviced update****

Postby data xXx » Wed Jun 06, 2007 11:46 am

Hey guys, so I had the toyota service dept. look at it previously (while still under warranty)... they "fixed" the problem by adjusting the window a little lower (about 1/18") and it solved the problem temporarily. After a trip to canada, I guess the wind from the "high speeds of 90+mph" blew the window out of alignment once again.

I went back to the toyota service dept. and tried to get the problem resolved again. The service manager (#1) that worked with me wasn't there that day, so another guy (#2) tried to "help me". He took me outside to check the problem. After opening and slamming the door to try and get it closed like 3X's he tells me this CRAP: "It's not a toyota warranty issue". He explained that the reason the window is not closing properly is because someone opened the passenger door too wide and bent the metal of the door. YES, he said that the door hinges are made of steel, while the doors are made of tin (a cheap material", and by someone opening the door wide, it made the tin door bend, not the hinge, not the window regulator. He said that he'd do me a "favor" by taking it to the body shop for an estimate.

I went back a week later EARLY in the morning to get this done. What do you know, he wasn't at work, receptionists said he was running late. So yet another service guy (#3) tried to help. I told him what I was there for ( to have the body shop look at my bent door ), he said they'll take care of it. I went home, they gave me a call saying it was fixed. On the service reciept, it said that the window guide was loose.

HMMMMMM yeah i didnt think that me opening the door too wide (horizontal movement) would cause the window to be out of alignment but vertically. But of course I had to humor the service EXPERTS.

What really ticks me off about all this is that I had to waste like 3 occasions of waiting 2+ hrs each to hear a different reason for my problem. The second guy really ticked me off cause what he said basically meant I bought a piece of CRAP car with cheap building materials and it simply was user fault that the frickin 200 lb passenger door wasn't durable enough to be working properly at just 34,000 miles or 2 1/2 years.

So the moral of this long rant of a story is, whoever has the GEN 2 Solara and has this problem with the window, screw the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty BS and just go into the service department and let them know. You might just get it fixed temporarily for free until the next mishap.

^^LOL! My grandma is with Kaiser; they screwed her over so bad lots of times it isn't even funny (no I'm not talking about intercourse to the freaks in this forum that might take it the wrong way)... Good analogy.
