Anybody having problems with their airbag system?

Anybody having problems with their airbag system?

Postby TXSolaraSLE » Thu May 22, 2003 1:21 pm

My airbag (SRS) warning light started flashing about a month ago while driving, then would go off and on every few days. Now it just stays blinking every few seconds all the time. I was wondering if anybody else has had problems with their airbag system and how much it cost them. I still haven't taken it in to run the computer diagnostic (still paying down those new rims!)

I did... it was blinking on and off for a while, then it turned off one day... I took my car to the dealer about 2 weeks ago, and they said that one of the pins for the passanger side air bag was out.. so they put it back in and it stopped.. mine was from my subs rattling it out... my subs will kill sensors.. they are extremly loud... take it in is what I would say

AirBag Problems

Postby SunGod916 » Thu May 22, 2003 7:10 pm

I had my airbag light coming on back about 9 months ago.... I was @ about 55K miles on the Solara and the 60K warranty covered it. AirBag lights is a safety issue and the dealership should always cover it....

It turned out to be my sideair bag on the passenger side was broken and they had to replace the entire seat. Good deal... It was like 400 dollars in parts and it was all covered by a Warranty. I hope you have one

the light coming on is not a safety issue. nor are airbag sensors, however, airbags themselves are.
depending on the problem, it could be covered under the 3yr/36K or the 5yr/60K. it all depends on what is wrong with it.

Airbag problem solved

Postby TXSolaraSLE » Thu Jun 05, 2003 8:27 am

I took my car in expecting to pay the $80 diagnostic fee, and ended up getting the whole thing fixed for free.. NICE!

It turns out there was an open circuit in the SRS system caused by some stuff under my passenger seat that knocked a wire loose from a wiring harness. It wasn't even a warranty defect, but Champion toyota in Austin fixed it anyways.
