Toyota won't make my new order

Toyota won't make my new order

Postby diver_luver » Fri Apr 06, 2007 6:42 pm

I ordered the new blue streak convertible, SLE. I was told it was going to be the first in canada. I ordered two weeks ago and was understanding that it would up to 8 weeks. Got a call yesterday telling me there are 37 converts in Canada and as Toyota wants to start the 08s, they will not be making any new ones.

Does this make sense?

Thinking, maybe drive to the US and get one there. I really was sold on the blue, i am not sure on the light blue with the grey, may go for black with tan or even the white with tan. Or i may just go back to SAAB and get the 20th anniversary in th eice blue.

Sounds like the dealer was leading you on, thinking that there had to be one in the color you wanted that they could get from another dealership, but couldn't.

To the best of my knowledge, you can't REALLY order a car from the factory easily anymore. They may tell you they are, but what they are really doing is LOCATING one for you.

You can try getting one on the US, but your speedometer is gonna be all backwards! LOL

Having worked for a Toyota dealer, I can state that Toyotas are not ordered in the same manner as say a Ford, GM, or DC products. Dealers are alloted cars from a pool of vehicles from their regional supplier or zone. The dealer is allocated a specific number of cars in the model lines. The dealer can "order" a car from the pool based on his allocation for the month, but the pool may not have the color or equipment the customer is looking for. Dealers can serach other dealer's inventory and maybe able to swap cars to get what the customer is looking for. Some dealers do not like to swap, so ordering for the pool is all they will do.

Search for the post by the KY dude that works at the plant. He had build numbers and dates in there. That should solve the riddle.
