instrument panel lights

Postby ConvertibleGirl07 » Wed Mar 28, 2007 8:12 pm

Well, I picked up my 07 sle convertible today and was soooooo excited! I drove home during the early evening while it was light out and my instrument panel lights were on. I had to run places with my hubby and we got home later in the evening and tried to go for a ride but to my surprise we couldnt get the headlights and the instrument panel lights to work at the same time. If we put the headlights on (auto and manual) the instrument panel lights wouldnt work. If we put it to dtr the instrument panel worked but not the headlights.. HELP PLEASE!

Something must be wired wrong.
Take it back to the dealer and get it fixed.

I bet that the instrument panel light control is turned off. Try turning the button on your instrument panel that resets the trip odometers- try turning it one way or the other- that should solve the problem. I can't remember which way it gets turned, but that could be the problem.

Clockwise for "ON --> BRIGHTER"....

CCW for "DIMMER"...

Hmmm... from what she's saying, the dimmer couldn't be it or they wouldn't come on at all, dontchathink?

I'd get the dealer to take a look, cuz if its dark out at all, they should be on with the lights. ;)

so.. what was the problem? if it was just the dimmer switch you might need to check your blinker fluid too.

But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

just turned the dimmer switch(odometer reset) and it works fine. The car only had 23 miles on it. I hope thats the only thing I find wrong. I am about to go set up my nav system and actually take my first ride with the top down!!

^^ LOL! Where do you live?

I drove mine home from the dealership with the top down! And if it ain't rainin' and it's above 62º then it's down for me year-round! (unless my GF is in the car - she's wimp!) ;)

i live north of chicago near wisconsin and it was raining on the way home from the dealership :cry: but I just got back from a quick(and somewhat cold) trip with the top down and I could care less that it was cold and cloudy!! I had the radio jamming and the seat warmers to keep my butt warm... it was a beautiful drive and I can't wait to get in it again. I love my new solara sle convertible!! Thanks for the welcomes

Yeah it's a thing with the Electroluminescent backlit gauges... My stepmom's 2006 Accord has the same thing. When the ignition is off, you can barely tell that there IS any instrumentation (usually 4 red needles on a vast array of black nothingness), then it's on a bit brighter (albeit customizable) during the day, and a bit dimmer during the night (also customizable). Therefore, you don't have anything to worry about; probably accidentally messed with it.
