Scion Head Unit?

Scion Head Unit?

Postby CamryOnBronze » Sat Mar 24, 2007 11:13 am

Hey guys, I didnt find anything in the database about this- My friend from Toyota Nation is selling me a scion ipod ready head unit for my solara, but first I want to be sure it will fit. It looks as though it may be not quite as tall as the stock solara unit, so im wondering if I may need a dash kit to fill the space... Just wonered if anyone else has installed one. Thanks!

Damon

The wiring is much the same, and slot that it fits into is made to fit a standard known as DIN, which Toyota products are usually 1 or 2. I've seen one from a Scion fit into a Gen1 with no problems.

Scion radios will NOT fit...

They are wider then the standard double din radios... The height is the same as any regular double din but they are wider by 1/2 inch on each side....

The wiring is the same.... They are standard toyota harnesses.

Trust me.. i took my xB's radio out and was going to install in the solara since it plays MP3s but it will NOT work...

yeah the previous owner said he had to mod his bezel in his gen 3 to make it work since it was too wide, Im confident I can figure something out but we'll see how ambitious Im feeling about tearing the new car apart

well, it looks as though the wiring is not the same from the solara to the scion unit. I modified a spare bezel and the unit fit fine, but the main plug on the scion unit has more wires than the solara plug... scratch this idea.
