TSB out for Fuel-Injection Cleaning

Postby 04solarafanatic » Mon Mar 19, 2007 10:14 am

Hi,
Just went to dealer in NJ (Sansone) to get my oil change and get brakes checked. The manager informed due to ethanol being added to all gasoline, people had complained about the fuel injectors getting clogged up. He showed me the TSB and recommeded getting it done.
Price of Fuel-Injection cleaning - $185 + tax. What are they thinking?

Has anyone else gotten this and got the fuel-injectors cleaned? If so, any good places besides dealer? I was thinking of local walmart for that.

Story continues....
They of course told me to get the 30k service and like others I said i will think it over.

Price of 30k maintenance was $515 + tax, I was like what the heck? most of the things on there are "check this, check that".

Told me my battery positive terminal needs to be replaced due to immense battery acid build up outside the terminals, I asked why can't they simply clean it? he replied the terminal is correded and will "fall off" if they cleaned it, so it needs to be replaced.
Price $79 + tax

Then, I needed a mini tune-up clean PVC valves, and replace engine filter.
Price $79 +tax.

I just got the oil change and battery crap done. (hope I didn't get ripped)

Sorry for the long post but have a Toyota before (91 corolla) didn't have to worry about all this crap. Only did oil change and timning belt, tires, never had a single issue and car ran like a champ.

Is it me or has the "QUALITY" gone way down? Again, sorry for the long post, just needed to rant. On top of that the new TSB is not covered under warranty, how freaking nice is that?

Ok done,
Have a nice day. :)

I thought if it was a TSB they were supposed to take care of it - warranty-like. If they're just using it as a way to shove a pole up your a$$ and steal your wallet, then screw that!! :x

I'd say if you're concerned about it, then buy a bottle of injector cleaner and call it good...

As far as the battery goes - give me a break!
If it was in danger of "falling off" from cleaning it, then your car wouldn't start - nor would it still hold a charge.

This dealer should seriously be reported - and this post should get moved to the "Bad Dealer Service" forum as well!

FWIW - ANYWHERE is better than taking your car to the dealer for minor service (brakes, oil changes, etc...) - Dealers make MOST of the $$ on service and extended warranties - not just selling you the car.

Thanks man!! Im finding a good local shop for all my things now...just asking friends around and then drop of the car for the brakes.

As for the fuel-injection service they recommended every 2 years...I was like what a bunch of BS.

Anyways, spring is around the corner, and Im going to focus on many DIY things for my cars.
