This morning I remote start my car, like every morning, and I went to job normally....but this morning I have a shipment to do. So I planned to go print some paper at my job (I don't have printer at home) and go the Post Office after. I remote start again my car....what was my surprise when I enter my car...the engine running with RPM at 0....ABS and oil lights on WTF !!!!! I retry 2-3 times without the remote...still the same. However, the check engine was on but went off in less then 1-2 seconds...and I cannot use the shifther, it is stuck in Parking position.

What a crap !!!!!

I forgot to tell the the guys from Toyota did the TSB ST001-06 (had to replace the steering column)...

What it can be ??????
What are the things I have to check first ???

Thanks for every hints

I'm guessing whomever installed it did a poor wiring job and the box that controls it is either malfunctioning or something causing all of your other to act fishy. Electronics also controls your ability to shift out of and into park, etc... I would have whomever installed that take a long hard look because i think thats whats wrong. I know of someone whos car alarm wiring caused some problems similar to yours, not quite as many problems though.

To weird problem comes weird solution...

I just verify my oil...and while the hood was open I saw that my air filter is crazily dirty ! Did nothing about it since I'm stuck in job parking.

I start my car without my remote...started with a tiny hesitation and run between 1500-2000 RPM...normally 800-1000RPM but at least al the gauges seems just fine and the RPM gauge does it job too !!

Toyota will have a call from me...

It's the CP-e intake.

(Just kidding. Had to do it. )

Good luck finding the issue. Go to Toyota quickly before your error code memory is over written.

Thanks guys to answer something to help me ! :D

I called the service director of my Toyota dealership...one thing I can say, he is really aware of this problem !!! One main reason why most of you will never get this problem, one missing ingredient...cold cold temp needed.

The relay IG1 located aside your left foot, near the door, is proper to get humidity.

What happened...

So, I remote start my car at home to go in a warm temp. I stopped 5 minutes at job to print out papers to go after to post office. during those 5 minutes the condensation went to icy layer on the relay IG1...yeah it still pretty cold here (must last day of cold before spring !!! :D ) So the contact on the relay was not perfect for all the car component.

When I went back 2 hours after, the sun on my black car heat up enough to melt down the icy layer on the relay...and my car started like a new one !!

Dealership offered me to isolate the relay if it's happen again. He told me that he is back order of those relay and isolation on other Toyota product !! He didn't know if they change of relay supplier or just change the location of the relay. He also told me that, it could help to do ON-OFF twice to send some electric discharge, he said I should here a "click", the signal that everything is back to normal.

One thing sure, I'm know more confident about my car and also about my dealership !!

Hope it's enough clear and well written to help someone out, if it's happen again to someone else....someone from somewhere else then California !!! :P

Wow Sebas! Glad you got it resolved so quickly! :D

(and REALLY GLAD it wasn't the CP-e that caused it too - especially since I've got one on order now!) :o

HAHA I knew it would scare some people about it...because myself I though it could be it. Normal to consider all the hypothesis when something without any logic happens...but CP-e wasn't the problem at all !! :D The product is installed since 9+ months never had any issue about it and I'm sure I'll not have it !

I have to clean the air filter more often tho !!

You'll not regret your purchase !!!! :D

LOL about the CP-e, you guys are hilarious

It would have been nice if the dealership can warn you about that kind of stuff happening when you purchase the car. That must have been a scary situation Sebas, I'm glad it's not that serious.
