What did it involve to pull the hood trim?

Crispy, hey man, the trim has some bolt on it and you get at it from the inside, leaving the indentation, welding a piece of metal over that area the same way shaved door handles are done.... As far as the back goes, the piece where the raised log sat on gets cut off and a new piece gets welded on flush, and repaint... The lip, I am guessing they used fiberglass to fill it in..

But Honestly, we just dropped the car off this past monday at a very popular and reputable shop here in so-cal.... and picked it up yesterday.... It really looks great in person, and very different to look at indeed, but in a very good way...

Thanks for the "particulars" Milt... clearly, it's not just a simple removal on the front trim, either... similar work as the rear shave and fill, etc... hmmm... I'd certainly want a good shop (like YOURS) to do such work...

It may be "down the list" a little for me... but I'm DEFINITELY liking it VERY much... I'd LOVE to see Posh's car in person... maybe if I get a chance to pass that way?

Keep up the "frontiersmen" (and frontierswomen! 8) ) work on the gen 2's guys! Really great to see the effort.

Curious

Postby JMSinMaryland » Sun Mar 04, 2007 9:26 pm

Milt,
What does something like that (front and rear) go for in Cali? I know there is a lot more shops out there than out here, I was looking at something similar for my 99, one off grill and shaved rear and it was going to cost around $800. Just curious.

I think I need a whole new drawer set of boxers. I messed them all up.

But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

Well it was somewhere around that price being that there was more work involved than just covering pin holes.....
