Hi, and thanks for buying a Solara. I work at the plant!

Just surfing around and thought I would see if there was a forum for the Solara. Nice that you are so enthusiastic as I really like the cars, both generations. Though I don't own one my son does. (I drive a 95 Lexus SC400). It is gen 1 in pearl white. SLE I think, with leather seats and alloy wheels. Thought it might be fun to check in with you guys once in a while, and maybe I can tell you a bit about how we build these cars. I was in the Stamping department (10 years) but now am in the Body Weld Shell Body area. (I am a plant maintenance guy, not doing actual production work. In a prior life I was a corprate aircraft mechanic for 25 years. This pays better and I am a car nut anyway with several Studebakers and a Packard.) We are the end of the body assembly process and the completed bodies leave us and go straight to Paint dept. My favorite part of the new job is taking care of the Convertible Line. My least favorite part of the job will be when we tear it out next year. Not to be replaced. Buy now...
