I am the proud owner of a 1999 SLE manual transmission ride! I love my car and have owned it for about 2 years. Wouldn't trade it for anything!

Nope, no modifications. I bought the car when I was going into my master's program and then went straight into phd so there is very little time for anything outside of studying. I tried to join this forum when I first bought the car, but I was outed. People assumed I was lying when I told them I had a 99 SLE that was a manual transmission. But I thought I would give it a second chance. My husband is looking at a 2002 solara, cuz we love them so much and we wanted to look for problems in the car. Thus far, I haven' had any major problems with mine other than the 02 sensor and I am pretty sure my struts and strut mounts are going in the back (common problem?) at a mere 61,000k. mainly just here looking for information and possible getting some parts, such as front grille replacement (mines chipped) and new head and tail lights.

I am positive it is an SLE with a manual transmission. The car was ordered from the factory this way and I have gone to two seperate dealers to have the vin ran. It was definently ordered from the factory this way. After being told this the last time I was on this forum I had all of this checked out.....I am positive I know what I am talking about. Sorry to be harsh, this topic is just very frusturating for me!

where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

Welcome! And if the VINs been checked twice, there can't really be much of a question, right?

Not all SLEs have Traction Control though... My SLE doesn't.

The only telltales I can think of are the digital climate and Homelink (3 buttons above the rearview mirror for opening the garage).

Possible

Postby JMSinMaryland » Sun Feb 18, 2007 6:50 pm

Possible someone removed the SE badges and replaced with SLE badges. No possibility of an SLE manual, Toyota never built them that way, EVER. Welcome back, Jon.

I also believe all SLE's came with digital climate control (push buttons) vs dials that you turn (SE's), which does yours have?
