hummm, I could swear that the factory harness didn't have a dimmer wire, i remember that I had to find one......the only wire that I'm using now is the switched power wire.

alright guys, did we hit a verdict on this???

Vin if it's not to much trouble, could you elaborate as to what I have to do to light up my eclipse??? (total rookie when it comes to electronics.)

Would take it to an installer but I don't want to pay for labor and time when they tell me they can't find the wire and it won't light up for my car.

thanks fellas,

Travis

^^^

There's two areas in which you can get a illumination signal:
1) at the head light switch on the steering column
2) at the dimmer knob - I'm not sure if Solaras have it but my ES300 has it on the left of the steering column and next to the trunk/gas release.

Get a test light and tap into each wire going in/out of either the dimmer knob module or at the headlight switch. While tapping into each wire, turn on and off the parking lights.
When you have the parking lights on and you find the "hot" wire (lights up the test light and turns off the test light when the parking light is switched off) - thats the one, use a t-tap or better yet solder your illumination wire there.

I hope it makes sense. :)

Well, I can attest that the Solara DOES have a dimmer wire in the harness... I recently installed an Alpine deck in my Solara, and it dims when the headlamps are on. :-P
