Well this sat. I bit the bullet on a 2000 SE V6. Unfortunately it's an auto tranny, I was a day late on the car I was REALLY trying to buy (looked on Thur. night, planned on buying Sat... Sold it to the owner's son friday afternoon, the bastards. It was a V6 manual, in pretty good shape, couple scratches that I could see in the night, but the int. looked clean.) This one is about in the best shape a 7 year old car can look (hey it's Wi here, if you drive it, it rusts.) The only trouble area is a chip that was re-painted in the hood (looks like gravel to me) the interior is perfect, and other that the one chip the exterior is in mint condition. Because it's a high mile car (around 100,000) I did manage to talk the dealership down a bit (sticker price was 10,995) I managed 7,700, don't know if I got ripped off, but I'm happy, it was under my budget for a new car, and the car looks good.

Yeah it was a bummer, but looking back, I am glad I didn't. The interior was real clean on the manual, but the exterior had some real problems in comparison to this one.
As to plans... Other than keeping it looking nice (first damn thing I buy will be some Meguiars tonight on my way home from the dealer) I might put some larger and better looking wheels on it. I'm not too interested in modding the engine, I bought it more for the looks and comfort. As one of the art directors I work with pointed out: They feel and sound alot like a lexus, they just don't cost it. He was, for the most part, right. The ride is completely different from what I'm used to (Mercury Sable, Crown Vic, and a Ford 250) but in a very good way, smooth yet responsive. The interior could use a little jazz, might try something to spice up that damn drab center section of the dash that SHOULD have been fake wood.

I'm a very image centric person, and most of the people I work with are too, so the apperance matters the most with this car. Someday I'll get a fast car, but then that car will be MADE to go fast out of the box. I had/will have the choice to buy a friend's '89 vette coupe, about 40k miles on it, oh yeah and it was bored and stroked by Lingenfelter! He told me it is hitting over 500 rwhp, and had the dyno sheets to prove it. So if I ever wanted to add a supercharger to anything... it won't be my solara!
