DRLs suddenly quit... ???

DRLs suddenly quit... ???

Postby PXLpainter » Wed Dec 06, 2006 4:37 pm

Okay - so I noticed my DRLs quit working the other day when I pulled-up behind a shiny truck and noticed in the reflection they were out. I flicked my Brights (uses the same bulb) and saw that my left bulb was out.

No problem - came home and put in a new matched set of Silverstars and the brights work just fine but the DRLs won't come on at all... :-?

So I checked all connections, fuses, relays, etc... everything seems visibly okay, but still no worky. I hesitate taking it to the stealership because they'll blame it on the non-OEM bulbs, my HIDs or my TRD muffler or some stupidfuckingthing!! :x

Anyone have an idea what it could be to just STOP all of a sudden?

Sheeit - wait 'til my neighbor hears this one!! He's the "Toyota/Lexus expert" that lives next door and he couldn't figure it out either! :x

So why the hell is that connected to the DRLs anyway??

If the E-brake is on, then you're not "Running". (lets hope)

Care to explain why you're using your hand brake while waiting behind a truck?

Owner's manual... :D

And it only controls them on startup... (i.e. if you have your e-brake up and start the car your DRLs will be off, and when you put the e-brake down they will turn on. However, if you then put the e-brake back up they will not turn off, they stay on...) So you cant be driving and pull up your e-brake and have your DRLs turn off...)

They might have gone out because one of the bulbs was out... IDK...

Good question though... LOL

^^ Exactly (as I tested that this am as well). Once they're on (after first release of ebrake after startup) then they stay on until you turn off the car.

Since only one bulb was out, I'm surprised that both stayed off in DRL mode - even though the right side would come on if I turned on my brights.

Weird though... I don't get why that is a "feature" they built in, but who knows...??? :-?
