He is the exception rather than the rule.

Look at the number of people on this forum that have had it with their Solaras and purchased something else. Would you say the same thing to a potential Solara buyer based on the many posts by pissed off owners?

The info I posted wasn't really wanted, so I deleted it.

I wasn't really giving it a bad rap...I like the car, it's really nice.

I was just saying that I didn't feel it was worth $31K. I posted some two year residual values for the higher rated cars. No Nissans among them.

The FX is estimated to hold 60% of it's value at two years, which would have put it at $27K based on 45K sticker.

Since it's a 2005, it's a full two years old, if not more and has 6K more miles on it than the national average. I simply stated that I'd habve tried to negotiate lower, and got the same type of response you did.

Why would you pay top dollar for aused car. There's alway room to negotiate. Just becuase everyone you see is listed at that price doesn't mean that everyone gets that price, or that the car warrants it.

But see, here I go again...shouldn't have re-hased it...might as well have left the osts there...

You obviously don't know PXL...never known him to not just say it like it is. Go back and look at some of the shift lag posts. I thin that will sum it all up for you.

I love my car, but I will tell anyone it's shortcomings, and have. It's the only polite thing to do.

Just because a couple of incidents occurred where defects were reported on a car that doesn't mean EVERY one of those cars are defective and unreliable, in most cases.

If I remember correctly, the Gen 2 Solara has its share of problems as well but my car has been very reliable. With the exception of a defective power window operator (I got that fixed the day before), the car has been pretty much problem free.

Yeah... PLEASE don't think I'd say NOT to buy anything based on someone's poor experience... (including first-hand experiences) - I know that I'd still buy something anyway if I had my heart set on it, regardless!

But it would be foolish to post that you're getting something and asking people what they think without actually taking ALL the responses into consideration, dontchathink? ;)

True, but he is the one buying the car so he should have an opinion of his own. If he wants the car he doesnt' need to ask for our approval. In this case only his opinion really counts, not ours since it is his car.

You do not go to a BMW forum asking for opinions on a Solara, and I did not come to a Solara forum to get opinions on a FX. I created this thread simply because I am getting rid of my Solara and decided to show what I am switching to. I will value the opinions of actual FX owners far more than an opinion formed from secondhand experience.

There are more factors involved in deciding whether a price is a good deal or not than just an averaged residual percentage, including sale price history on similar vehicles. Residuals are about as useful as KBB, NADA, and Edmunds in determining a market value.

It's always a pleasure posting on this forum...you know, with the people that never learned when to keep some opinions to themselves.

You post anything up here, you're subjecting yourself to opinions of those who read it! ;)

Well - like they say, opinions are like asssholes - everybody's got one! :D

Nice. You act like we got on here are told you not to buy it, horrible car, worst decision of your life. If you can't take opinions, you shouldn't be posting in forums.

I'll bet your real reason for posting was to see how many ooos and ahhs you'd get, to boost your ego. Sorry if I sound angry, but your last post just got to me. I was only trying to be helpful.

I am a fan of almost all cars and trucks because each of them is different and they all got their good and bad.

You will like the FX as much as I do, it looks hot too, not like the Honda Pilot.

Yeah, that's true, but incidentally I had a Sentra that turned me off from buying a Nissan ever again, unless of course it is imported from Japan (e.g. most Infinitis and of course, the R34), so that's the reason I switched to Toyota; their reliability whereas I was hoping to get a 350Z.

However, that's just my opinion, but since the FX's place of origin is Japan, I'll be honest with you... That is a damn sweet ride that actually grew on me! At first I thought it was "another gas guzzler that looks like a constipated cat", but now I think of it as an aggressive SUV.

Damn, I've been caught. My goal with this thread was to receive praise and consequently, boost my ego via anonymous compliments on an internet forum. It just feels so good!

Anyway, adios. It will be nice to drive a vehicle that actually shifts as it should.
