that1mexguy wrote:man i guess i must be too dumb cuz i just dont get it... now when you guys say it's flush, are you talking about the center of the rim? or the lip? the wheels i'm trying to get ONLY come with a 42 offset, which is why i want to get an idea of how they'd look if i get them. I've wanting a fat lip and these wheels have a 2" lip soooo.. if i'm understanding correctly, and if i get these wheels, then the lip may be sticking out a bit more, correct?

the lip may be deep, yes but the 2" lip isnt affect the overall width of the wheel
if its a 7.5 its still gonna be 7.5" wide regardless, meaning, the depth of the lip of the wheel is included in that width measurement. When we say it sits flush, it means the wheel as a whole sits flush. My wheels have a 1" lip ( not super deep ) so in my case, since the lip is the part of the wheel that sticks out the most, the lip sits flush against the side of my car. If the center of my wheel sat flush, the lip would be sticking out and look like lorider rims, which isnt the case. Unfortunately 42 offset seems to be the most popular offset choice, and ppl on here may suggest wheel spacers to space it out more, but i dont think spacers are safe ( haha sorry im paranoid like that. )
When it all comes down to it its about personal preference. if 7mm deeper than flush aint gonna bother you, i say go for it. Flush on an 18x7.5 is a 35mm offset. My wheels sit just barely inside the wheelwells at the top of the rear wheels. I only got 38mm because i planned to be lowered very soon, and 42mm would look a bit too sunken in in the rear IMO, and I didnt want 35mm because with a full load + system + 3 inch drop there was a chance of me rubbing. The front wheels look fine on 42 38 OR 35, so its the rears you gotta worry about.

I hope that helped out

it did man and sorry for asking over and over but i wanted to make sure i got it right before i drop $1200 on some rims. As a matter of fact, i think my rims now are not flush and do look a bit sunken but that doesnt bother me at all. Anyway, thanks everybody for the help!

I was told from the head guy at MHT wheels (who also owns a Gen 1 Solara) that 8" wide rims should be 42 offset.

Go check out the size/offset calculator - side-by-side with OEM - it's the best I've seen anywhere yet! ;)

Cool - done. :)

I've posted this link in other threads before as well - I'm sure other peeps have too, so it's not a secret - but it doesn't pop-up readily when searching, so I reposted in the Tutorials Forum.

that1mexguy wrote:so you are saying if i want to go for that sunken look then the 42" is good for me? because i do but i just want to avoid the lowrider look (wheels sticking out too much). I see the 38 offset looks flush, so a 42 may only stick out an additional 4mm right? These are the wheels I'm trying to get, do you think they'll stick out too much?
