My statement was a general one, not necessarily about the Solara. If you never buy new, you will never get the newest technology. In other words, if you never bought new, you would have not gotten air bags traction control, stability control, etc... until years after they were introduced.

They didn't make the Solara in the Magnetic Gray in 2006. If I wanted a white one with the VSC & TRAC, I could buy one tomorrow at a local dealership. I want the Magnetic Gray.

I think I'm going to call the first salesman I spoke to a couple of weeks ago & ask him to order the car for me. The only way I'll do it is if he writes it up when I order it & locks the price in for me. I won't let anyone screw me into paying more when the car comes in like that other salesman wanted to do.

I have never owned a new car. I was originally going to buy a used car but decided against it. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I work my butt off every shift, & the stress level is through the ceiling, so I finally decided that I deserve a new car. It took a while, but now I won't turn back. I will get a 2007 Magnetic Gray SLE.

As for N.Y., the airfare is cheap, especially one way, but I did forget about the taxes. Oh well, so much for that idea. I'll call the salesman tomorrow.

Thanks for your help!!

What taxes? You only pay sales tax in the state of registration. You can buy from NY or CA or TX and not pay taxes in those states; you will, however, pay sales tax in Florida when you register the car.

I don't have to worry about taxes in another state now. I'm just going to order it here. I wrote to the SE Regional Manager & he is checking around for me. I should know over the next couple of days if he can help me. If he can't, I'm just gonna order it. I can't be bothered looking anymore. I HATE shopping.

I was holding out on the price because I read a few posts on here that said I shouldn't have to pay more than $26,000 for this car. I think most of you had the power of gender on your side & that's why you were able to get it for that price. Thank you for the advice, but I don't think I'll be as fortunate as most of you at the bargaining table.

When I go back to order it, I will go with a neighbor of mine that's a man. Hopefully he'll get a better price than I did. I'm almost positive that he will, just because he's a guy. If not, I'm still gonna buy the car. I don't have any patience for this. At this point, I just want to get the car.

I dunno Anette...when I looked online, they were all over 27K and most were at 28K. You gotta go in with your financing taken care of and give them no where to add on...then tell them what you are willing to pay. If they say no, start to walk out...they WILL stop you (uless you truly lowballed them).

RE: taxes...I have nver bought a car from another state, but you have to get the car to FL somehow...so I was not sure if you'd have to get TEMP tags in NY (and pay fore them, plus tax) then register in FL, and pay tax. Who knows.

The Regional Manager called me today & gave me a person at a local dealership to call. I left a message for her.

He also checked the SE stock & the shipments expected in, & they don't have what I want. They don't trade outside their region. I'll have to order it. It will take 90 - 120 days to get it. It will be worth the wait. At least I'll get exactly what I want. I'm glad he stated in writing, that the price I'm quoted at purchase is what I should pay when the car comes in.

The positive side is that I'll be able to put more down on the car by the time it arrives. I'd like to be able to put down at least 60% so my monthly payments won't be too high. I also want to pay it up asap because I hate paying more interest than I have to.

What do you think about the Toyo Guard Protection? They seem to add this on all their cars on their website. Do you think I should get it or do you think it's a waste of money?

I'm not sure which warranties I should get. I've read up on them, but I'm still unsure. Any suggestions?

Toyoguard comes in different levels...some include window etching, paint sealant and others include those and rental car coverage for warranty repairs.

In Orlando, unless you can get the car before they put that crap on it, you are stuck, because EVERY dealership in MY area puts it on before you even see the car. They make mega profit on that.

If you don't want it...make sure you tell them before they get a hold of it or you will be stuck with it.

My wife was able to get an '07 SLE convertible for $31,000 with HID, VSC and Trac, Floormats, NAV. She was able to negotiate about $3,000 off the price. Also, because of the problems we have been having with the car lately, she was able to get the dealer to install a FREE clear bra, and the Toyota rep is in negotiations with her now. They have offered her a free extended warranty and to make the payment for the car for the month. The car has been at the dealer for about 40 days already, and we only got it August 28th! My wife says you can negotiate even if you are of the "wrong gender," you just have to negotiate with your head and not your heart. She really doesn't want to lemon law it unless something else goes wrong with it.

I've decided on a dealership. It's a dealership that was recommended to me, Kendall Toyota. They gave me an OTD price of $28,750. That includes the VSC & TRAC, Mats & Wheel Locks. I don't want the Toyo Guard, which costs an add'l $619. This price includes all the fees & taxes.

I'm still not sure if I should let them do the tint. The guy told me that it's actually in the windows. Does anyone know if this is true? I was thinking about getting it done separately after getting the car. A Hybrid tint. What do you think? What did you do??

I called all the Toyota dealerships in Broward & Dade county & a couple in Palm Beach.

I am going to order it next week. Has anyone on here bought a car from Kendall?

Thanks for all your help.

I was with a friend test driving a Highlander, and I believe it was at Kendall Toyota. The Highlander we drove had crappy A/C and when I mentioned it, the salesman said, This is Florida, it's hot here". DUH! That's why I'd want functioning A/C. Fool!

What street is Kendall Toyota on. Come to think of it, it might have been closer to Homestead....anyway, most Toyota dealerships are high volume and low customer service...just be prepared for that.

The tint that is "in" the windows is just factory tint, and it's VERY light...It's not the tint you are talking about, or want.

Scrape up the extra $3k and get a convertible! You'll thank me!

Either way good luck on the buy. May it be painless.
