Cedar Point Meet: Sat 10/14

since this thread was kind of fading away, i brought up with a little update..

so far here is what i know about the plan.

saturday october 14th (in 2 and half weeks), at cedar point.
exact time, and the meeting place will be announced soon.

Mike T, PhreakdOut, and I (tacti) will be there for sure. (right?)
bring your friends, family, etc.

i'll be in columbus the night before, so if anyone wants to drive up together, let me know.

I'm in for this. (I even have the wife planning on it. LOL) Even if it's the three of us, let's just move forward. I hope others will consider joining in. It would be awesome to have a crowd of SolaraGuys at Cedar Point. (Since this is the direction we are going in this meet, I'll change the thread title.)

Here the suggested plan:

Meet at the Eastbound Wyandot Service Plaza on the Ohio Turnpike. ( Mile marker 77 I believe. ) This is the first rest plaza east of the intersection of I75 and the Ohio Turnpike.

We should plan to meet there at 10:30. The park does not open till 12 this late in the season. They are holding "Halloweekends" so they will be open till Midnight. (If you last that long) If you stay that late, you may want to consider getting a room at one of the local motels. They should be pretty cheap and available in the off season.

My daughter and I already have season passes so we're all set to go.

I just hope and pray for no rain.

I'm wondering if there are anyone who's still interested in this other than Mike T, PhreakdOut, and I.
if you don't want to come by yourself, bring your friends.
(actually i'm bringing one of my friends who probably has no interest in modding cars. ^^;)

Looks like the weather will be cool (mid 50's) but sunny. At least there will be no rain.

I WILL be there regardless. Depending on how many come, I may stay overnight in the area and head back the next day.

So count me in for sure

Okay guys, I just found out that I have to work this weekend. Therefore I will not be able to make it to CP. I'm suggesting those that can make it go ahead and go.

What I'm proposing is to push this date back to the end of this month or sometime in November.

Those that are on the list below, would you mind responding and letting us know if you would still like to attend. I was thinking maybe we can go back to the original Indy thing. What does everyone think?

1. michaels artic frost (depending on the turnout I'm 100% committed, , Any localtion)
2. RGZTOY(depending on turnout 100%) IN
3. Tacti (depending on turn out 100% @ any location, any time)
4. Biggi_e(depending on turn out 100% wherever)
5. DocJohn (depending on turnout 100% for Indy, 75% for Columbus)
6. toy4x4boy (depending on turnout 50% IN only, might have to work)
7. xsolarax (depending on location... wv 100%, other 0%)
8. PhreakdOut (the 8th is my b-day) 50% Depending on family / friends plans. If we do a mid-day meet somewhere in Ohio, I can still get back by evening.
9. woa_its_j3ff 50% (just depends if i volunteer at the homeless shelter that weekend)
10.solorange(dont know of anything yet for that date so ill make this a priority)
11. Sap Z (i cant plan that ahead but i'm 80% sure i'll make it if its in indiana)
12. Down2TheC (I can do Indy or Columbus... just have to check on the date.)
13.

Again, I apologize for this short notice, but work is work and we all know how that goes.

OK, the Cedar Point thing appears to not be working out. Saturday'd high will be 49 with 17mph winds. (Maybe many rides will not be open?) On the positive side, the park would be empty. :wink:

Whether the daughter and I go anyway will depend on the weather. She's 11 and loves every roller coaster. This would be a good chance if the rides are open.

Damn winter! Why did it show up early this year? THe first snow hit today.

I'm a Californian trapped in a Michigan residence.

anything about the odd weather can be explained by global WARMING, even if you are talking about COLD weather.

anyways, i'll be there as long as least one person shows up.

also if we have another meet in indy or something before winter, i'll be there as well.

are there anyone who's interested in another meet at the original location, indianapolis?

Hey be happy you didnt decide to meet in Niagra falls, Bufallo got hit with 2 feet of snow this morning they had a travel ban on the area.

^^ When I used to live in Chicago, I used to brag about how bad the Lake Effect snow was on the city. Then I met this guy from Buffalo and I realized that Chi town has nothing on Buffalo. That place is crazy with snow!!!

So when do you start the snow plow mod for the Solara? LOL

Stay safe and save your back. Hire kids to shovel the snow. It's the best loophole in child labor laws.

i think this will be the last chance to have a meet before we have snow.

and maybe at Indianapolis?

I just through this idea in.. can someone could come up with actual place to meet and things to do?
I've been indy quite a few times, but don't know anything much about the city.

if there are some people interested in this, maybe we can start a new thread.

I really want to have another meet before i put my stock tires back on...

I know you're familiar with at least one bar there! :wink:

I hope this meet will happen. Unfortunately, I will be out of the county on those dates. Feel free to start a new thread since this one was a bust.

(BTW: We should have one winter SG meet. We don't have any Solara gathering pics in the snow. All covered in salt and ice with stockie wheels and tires.)
