my very sad, scary and angry car accident!! with pics!!

ok so its 2 in the morning and im driving home from a friends by myself on a Friday night (or technicaly sat morn). i stop at a red light thats one block away from my house. i see an suv all the way behind me cruising slowly towards me. im still waiting for the light and again i look in the rearview mirror and hes still coming slowly so i keep my eye on him (because im always paranoid and for some reason in the city i live people love to tailgate) He gets closer and closer to my car and I let go of my brake just to give him an extra room just in case he won't stop. BAM!!! I hear a giant CLUNK while my car moves forward. I'm just thinking to myself "SHI.T I ALMOST MADE IT HOME!!"

I get out of the car and write his plate down and the 40 something year old fool agrees to follow me to the nearest taco establishment 50 yards away. As Im driving I call the police to come. After we park he comes out speaking broken english saying 'no insurance no registration no license no nuttin' offers me a $50 'no call la policia'. It was obvious that he was an illegal immigrant. Im like you gotta be outta ur frikkin mind so i said no dice and that I already called. after about 20 mins i called them back and the cops give me crap about how its between the border of so so city and somethin so they dispatch the CHPs. i sit there and hes gettin all these clowns at the taco shack to talk me outta callin the cops and ish and im like dude ur so busted. 45 min later the SOB just takes off and now im stuck by myself there and these customers are staring me down. its almost 3 in the morning and im the only girl at a 24 hour mexican restaurant and i was very scared. it was my first accident ever!! finally the cops came about 20 mins after the guy left and take down the info for the collision report. They said they'll call me within 2 weeks to notify me about the owner. It's been 3 MONTHS and no word yet still about the status of it (those oinkies didnt do a dayam thing.) Sad thing is I dont have uninsured motorist collision coverage so Im stuck with the fugly dent and my alignment is off, Also my door has to be slammed in order to close. Longo Toyota wants $2 ,500 to work on it.. and this all came out of my pocket. =(

anyone has any ideas to help me out on how to find the guy to pay for it? obviously cops arent doing ish about it (f the poleeese). and f the guy for ruining my life!!! chp ran the plate and the car is from riverside/fontana. if anyone has seen his car please let me know!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don;t have drivers license info (which he prob. didn't have), a tag number isn't much... You might be screwed.

I had this happen to me once: dude was driving a car he had "borrowed" from a car wash. "His" car was barely scratched, & I'll bet the owner didn;t realize for days, if not longer... My car was f-ed up pretty bad... and I was totally S.O.L. I waited for a cop for a few hours, and gave up.

Life sucks sometimes... eventually you get to die.

Call the cops again to get an update on your case, and ask them why its taken so long.

And if they give you any crap, see if you can file it as a hit and runs since he failed to produce any papers and failed to wait until the cops got there when requested.

If that ever happens to me, I'd get out of my car, go up to his car, grab him around the neck, yank him though the window, and beat his face in.

I understand, accidents happen. Thats why they are called accidents, but that prick is so irresposible as to not have a license or insurance. That, to me, is unacceptable.

Sorry to hear this, wish i could find this guy. Id take care of him. I would never let someone drive off if they hit me. Give the police a call and ask them whats up. Good Luck.

Wow, that's crap. The cops are giving you the run around. You got a plate number, and unless the car was stolen, someone owns it and is responsible.

Call them and demand that they tell you who owns the car, you have a right to know.

Then, call your insurance company and report it to them, giving them the name of the owner. Let them fight it out with their insurance company.

If the owner was negligent in letting an unlicensed driver take their car, then they will have to pay.

If the guy stole the car, you are probably out of luck...unless you can prove negligence on the part of the owner.

If the case is that he borowed the car from hi job, like the other poster said, then sue the employer.

There are ways for you to get out of this, but it'll take some time and work on your part.

well if there was some way to allow illegals get some sort of driver's license (not necessarily like everybody else's) don't you think missy here could find the bastard and allow the government keep track on who is legal or not and then make it easier to control these 'illegals'?

Not going to argue with you in someone else's thread...but whether he had a driver's license or not, he probably still wouldn't have insurance and would have still taken off. Point is, he was here illegally (most likely-not my words orignally) and he didn't want to get caught and get sent back to wherever he came from.

I believe in most states to obtain a drivers license you need to provide a social security number which would require you being a citizen. hey everybody thanks for the concern. and yes that dent on the side of the car where my door is was made by me.. i hit a fence.. but i got that fixed along with all the other damages.

but yeah for sure he was an illegal immigrant because when he heard i called the police he got really scared and started making hand gestures and shaking his head like "please dont call the police i dont want to get arrested". i felt REALLY bad at him for the time.. i didnt want to take it that far to have someone arrested.. but in the end I was the one who got really screwed. it was a really bad crash and costed sooo much money.

but yeah i did report it to the insurance but i do not have uninsured motorist collison coverage so they didnt do anything about it. i also have called the police.. and they said that only the police report is available which has no information on the driver or the owner of the vehicle.. (its just a written report of exactly what i told them on that day)..they said its taking awhile because "its a special case".

i do agree that illegal immigrants need to be kept out of the country due to many reasons.. including sh.it like this. i have the right to be angry because he couldnt drive correctly to save his own life. think about it, if you were unlicensed, uninsured and undocumented.. wouldnt you be a LITTLE more careful in driving?? i also had the feeling that he was drunk because of his red-shot eyes and the slow reaction time he had in stopping behind my car. he had so many counts against him and the sad thing is he got away clean! i dont think anyone should get offended when we're talking about illegal immigrants because we're not just speaking about mexicans.. but about every type of person who is undocumented in this country. i hope that no one is going to start arguing or getting offended over this.

hey JMSinMaryland, so becuase he was behind the wheel that automatically makes him 'licensed'? how the hell could i have "held onto his drivers license and registration until the cops came" if he specifically had "NO LICENSE NO WALLET NO CALL POLICIA". he came up with a bunch of sh.it not owning a wallet when he even offered to pay $50 for the damages from his money clip. the only thing i could do was a take a pic of his car and license.. which now I know dont do krap since cops are good for nothing unless youre lying there in your own blood face down. i basically did everything in my part that was possible.. the only thing that couldve been different is if the California Highway Pigtrol would've responded in a timely manner instead of giving him 45 minutes to flee!!

JMSinMaryland, Uh i reported next morning, and lets say I did report it 1 month later what difference does it make theres a CHP collision report on file done that same night at that scene. They don't cover uninsured motrists in my policy. Easy to talk about stuff when you're just take it out of your arse and dont clearly read a thing. Whole point is I am paying 2 and a half g's because an irresponsible jerk wants to joyride carelessly and transfer responsibility. I just wanted to know what my options were after all this.

MCOjerry that is very well thought out piece of advice. Ill try to go taht route and hope things wil get better. For now all I could do is work extra overtime just to get back to the status quo.
