indiglosolara wrote:Sorry for the bickering back and forth. As I just stated above. I am just going to cut communication with him since I really don't want to deal with it. I personal am not putting these on my car. But on my friends car we are using Tein H-tech which has a high drop. Its only about 1" up front.

We are working on something so we'll see what happens. We tried the install 3 times in that one day and noticed that the strut just wasn't sitting in the notches each time. Thats how I came to the conclusion that the notch was slightly off.

Once I get some details on my friends car I will respond back.
Thanks

Kenny

But you know what... Just to end this.

You are the one that brought my name into this thread in the first place, so don't be so arrogant as to try to have the last word by saying that you will no longer respond to any of my posts. This whole "conversation" just proves how immature you really are.

And as for the subject of the strut problem, I have already provided the answer previously in the other thread and I linked you to it.

Good Day Fellas.

If you refer back to my first or second post, All I said was that you knew and weren't willing to share, Thats when I called you out on. And I will admit that. Then you replied by pointing out that you did give some pointers but also personally attacking me. I replied and APOLOGIZED that I didn't see the post you made in the other thread and left it as that and I only responded to the accusations that you made and personal attacks.

If you think I was immature about that then fine. But I only responded to IMO was the personal remarks you made towards me. But if you want to think that I am immature so be it. I don't want to argue over something like this. I only said I would end communication with you is that I just don't want to deal with arguing back and forth.

Regards,
Kenny

P.S. Now back to the thread...

Lightgear - Did you happen to look at the strut mount on both sides to see if they look the same?? I didn't get a chance to take a look at these so I am wondering if the driver side and passenger side is indentical or they have a diff shape to them. Also the car I am working on is a Camry Gen 4.5 and not a Solara. So I am wondering if they have the same strut mounts.

Hrmm, haven't checked both of my old strut mounts. But when I went in to Toyota to buy my new right strut mount, I also purchased a left one...

...and they both look the same.

FYI, TRD struts do that... LOL

Hey milt, I asked earlier not sure if you saw it. My question is how did you sit an's springs on to the trd strut? For me I didn't turn the spring all the way around so that the end of it meets the strut, instead I had it where it aligned evenly so it looked like a perfect christmas tree. Was that wrong? Am I suppose to have the end of the spring meet up completely with the strut.

.....am i making any sense and do any of you other guys know what i'm talking about?

From what i've read in the repair book, you're suppose to install the spring when the notch on the strut is on the bottom....
Hope that helps.....

I did my friends where the spring end meets the strut's notch. Everything sat even when it was installed that way.

I pretty much installed it to like how stock looked.

Yup. We tried that same side 3 times. Put together, install and drive around. When it made the noise we came back and pulled it apart and redid it again.

But like I mentioned above. I know the noise is coming from the top of the TRD strut on the passenger side where it's shorter. Where the top part of the strut goes into the strut mount. The rounded part that is wider then the stock strut its hitting the mounting plate (bottom piece). I took a look at the tokicos and the KYB's and both of those have the same width as stock. TRD is the only one that has the wider (thicker) strut arm. The opening of the mounting plate is not large enough.

Which is why I posed the question if both sie are indentical or if they have a diff strut mount that was made for the TRD Solara's or the TRD struts in general.

I will be looking into the strut mount in the next couple of weeks and see what I can come up with.
