You seems to be an intermidiate to avanced tuning person...but I suggest you to takes all the time to install the CP-e piggyback...find the good wire and verify that it is the good one 2-3 times...the 3M connectors are a bit hard to close but when it's done...it's really solid and the connection is safe ! You'll love the intake sound !! :D

Sebas....

Appreciate the input.... I'm a "measure TWICE cut ONCE..." kind of guy, so I'll definitely take your suggestion to heart... I'm sure I'll understand in greater detail when the kit arrives. (Hopefully today!)

WAAAAAAHOOOOO!!!

....or something like that! :D

My CP-e just arrived today! (Thanks to Josh A. at CP-e and a fantastic display of quality service that has thus far, exceeded my expectations. I'll have more on that later, I'm sure.)

APPLICATION: '04 SE V6

I ordered the "Tuneable" unit, so I cannot speculate on the differences with the "Non-Tuneable" model. (I suspect they are similar in hardware... perhaps with a different Customizable MAF box? ...or contents therein?) Anyway, I carefully removed the contents from the well represented styrofoam peanuts... the envelope containing the instructions, invoice, and Josh's namecard were first out... followed by the inlet pipe, (beautiful nameplate, fine workmanship and finish, quality feel all around...), a large bag containing several compartments... each housing various components of the kit such as serial cable, (PC interface, I presume?), CM box interface cable, hoseclamps, 3M ScotchloksTM, "SWEET" 3.0" to 3.5" silicon hose (w/CP-e logo in silver), aFeTM High Flow air Filter (in killer blue... which matches my cosmic blue tone...), and an array of other miscellaneous paraphernalia pertinent to the install. (I opted for the spare filter cleaner/oiler kit, as well...) ....and then there is the "Tunable MAF CustomizerTM Softward CD. Haven't removed ANYTHING from the inner packages yet... I have to "earn" the respect of the kit with my "worthiness" to understand, install, and ultimately.... "BE the KIT". (Might want to check out "Spiritual Solara" thread at this point....)

Okay.... back to some specific initial thoughts:

1) not a rush job

2) not a job for "simpletons" (I'm not meaning offense, here... just fact)

3) not a job for rocket scientists only, either!

I've spent a good hour pouring over the set of detailed instructions and consider that "an introduction". I'll study it carefully several more times before I lay out the project and begin a careful install. The ScotchloksTM are provided for a "quick/simple" install, but I believe I will think about soldering... despite the added time to perform. (Perhaps I'll "dry-wire" it once and come back with solder once validated for correct installation...) The technical walk through the instructions is very straight forward in the fundamentals, and extremely refreshing from an advanced perspective on the "expanded" information directed at those with "tuning principles understanding". (That's the only way I can put it... you are either of the technical capacity to follow some or all of the advanced material, or you don't. Fantastic stuff... I'm sure there are very good minds availble at CP-e to discuss specifics of both the theory, mechanics, and application of this information. I can't WAIT! --> understand, I'm not saying you HAVE to understand or use all this stuff.... I'm just saying it is THERE if you can and want to use it.) I leaf through the chart illustrations and description of how the tuning functions work... and I just KNOW, the flexibility of this system is EXACTLY what a tuner wants in a product.

BUT WAIT! I believe the kit is also intended to be quite user friendly. (Installation prerequisite criterion of SOME skills with basic tools aside...that is...) I think you can just walk through the well laid out and illustrated instructions, (blatently strewn with well placed and intelligently redundant warnings, cautions, and emphasis), and be off and running in a couple of hours or so. (Ya GOTTA read the INSTRUCTIONS, guys... that should be the first half to hour AT LEAST! Remember, "measure TWICE, cut ONCE!")

Okay, so you are getting the drift... just ignore this if it's "boring" you, (my apologies... really).... I just hope someone might benefit from it if they are wanting to know a little about this product.

"Tune" in for more when in the NEXT installment of "crisp gets crisp" (too many puns?), we delve further into the world of intelligent vehicular augmentation....

I will make a concerted effort to illustrate my experience in digital medium so that image might replace (or supplement, rather...) my explanitory verbiage...

I don't feel alone anymore... the ranks are growing!

The non-tunable is the same but with no plug and no software. Josh ran the tunable instructions by me when he created them. Outstanding documentation. I still have the non-tunable chip because I can't imagine wanting to mess with the map the real engineers came up with.

Now have someone take a pic of your face when you first try it out and hear the first grunt. Hit the gas, drop the jaw. :o

just remember when you are making your connections with your wires, solder them together. i used electric tape and twisted the wires together but i redid them with solder.

Crisp - you crazy bastard! Yeah - photobucket or CarDomain - then post the URLs of the images in here...

You can either embed them in your message like this:

Or if you want to link to the pics from text, then just input the url inline text like this:

http://pixelpainter.com/solara/WindScreen_04.jpg

Good luck!
