Problems w/ your Solara

Problems w/ your Solara

Postby Julez » Mon Sep 11, 2006 12:26 am

I've had an 04 SE Sport, which I only had two problems with(the tire pressure light keep coming on and the passenger window motor track was off center) and now have an 06 SE Sport and was just wondering what problems you have noticed.

As of right now my 06 SE Sport has 13.5K miles and has zero treadlife on the original tires. They are basically smooth. When I had my 10K mile service he said the tires were fine. Could they go from good to bad in 3K+ miles. I do mostly highway driving. Anyone experience this. Could this be caused my the 17" wheels

I also have this sticky black substance on the inside of front passenger window near the windshield area. Not sure where this came from.

My driver's side front pillar(the one that goes from the left air vent area to where the side air bags would be) keeps falling off. Looks like the plastic connector is broken.

Other than that, I enjoy riding in the Solara although it will be a heck of a lot more nicer with some new tires.

Greetings too to everyone.

I would try to look if it is the passager side problem...http://www.alldata.com/tsb/Toyota/1140768000000_1141718400000_BO015R-03/31.html

For your tires it is not normal even for Z tire (3000miles good to bad...) Inflate your tire as it recommend...a side that I don't really know...maybe bumpy road or hard start everytime....

I just turned 20k on my 06 with stock 17" Turanzas (6 mths old) and I have more than 1/2 the tread life left...but I do mostly highway miles and monitor the tire pressure regularly...

While I had coolant problems with my first 06 (see my post from march), this one has been trouble free so far.

With keeping proper pressure and not driving my car all that hard, the stock tires had extreme wear on the inside whereas the outside still had plenty of tread after 13k miles. Of course, this was with 2 years of the car pulling to the left and it was fixed about a year ago. Finally replaced the tires at around 18-19k miles and now my 9 month old summer tires are showing the same wear. At this rate, I'll be buying new tires every 12-18 months because of excessive inside wear that rotation does not help with (especially on my summer tires). Toyota claims my alignment is fine.

I would never buy this car again. Nice car to look at but it has too frickin' many little problems and design flaws.
Moved on to better things...

I can get it to stay put for about a day, but driving on the bumpy nor cal freeways tend to pop it out of place every chance they get.

My Solara have had no mechanical or electrical problems so far. The only thing that is not good are the tires. The Bridgestone Potenza RE92 tires that came stock with the vehicle is making a lot of noise while the car is moving. My car has 14,000+ miles on her.

I was just kidding :)

There isn't a difference between the two, as far as I know... just thought that NorCalian sounded funny :) ...

To keep things on topic... the only problem I had was a squeaky seat belt swivel thing... the dealership added some more grease and that solved it...
