dealer autodimmming mirror

dealer autodimmming mirror

I'm thinking of picking up the autodimming rearview mirror for my 06 from the dealer, but I had a few questions about the install. I know the install is simple, but how does it get power? Is it battery powered or is the Solara prewired under the standard rearview mirror? I know this is linked with the autodimming side mirror on the SLE, how difficult is the install on an SE? Is it a different harness or are they all prewired the same?

The mirror receives power from the car, which is pre-wired. You tap into the wires above your sunglasses holder, and there's actually a small, pre-existing slit in the headliner against the windshield up top for the wires to travel through. The instructions aren't very straight forward (at least mine weren't, but that was more than two years ago, maybe things have changed), but if you have a bit of patience it's not that hard.

Good luck,

James

PS--> The SLE wiring for the autodimming rear view is no different. The side view is it's own entity, and is not linked to the rearview to my knowledge.

I got a mirror sometime ago, but never could figure out how to get the sunglasses thingie out for the wiring.
Is your mirror "on" all the time?

So how did you take the Sunglasses thingie out?
I'm stumped!
I don't want to ruin the headliner or break the darn thing.
