rear bumper mounting

rear bumper mounting

Postby Dekanas » Thu Aug 24, 2006 6:11 am

Some days ago I was driving on highway. And it is unbelievable: I lost my rear bumper!!!
I don’t know how that could happen, the bumper was not dismounted since factory, as I know. Of course, I drove very fast – maybe 115 m/h, but that was not for the first time.
Anyway, good people find it and returned the bumper to me. The bumper was not broken, but there are some scratches.

Now I had a problem to mount the bumper back. That is not difficult, but some mounting elements are broken and I don’t know how it looks like originally. Exactly, under the trunk cover there are some holders, which are broken and missing some parts.
Have anyone a photo of those holders? Ore maybe a photo of the car without damned bumper, if those holders are quite visible?

I will be very appreciative.

Unbelievable :o :o :o Thank goodness no one was behind you and the fact that you were able to get your bumper back in one piece is quite an amazing story in itself.

Good luck with getting it fix.

No warranty, because I'm and my Solara is in Europe.

Besides, as I have searched, there are some clips and four bolts, which hold the rear bumper.
After the incident, I missed three of them. So maybe from vibrating or so, some bolts have unscrewed.

I almost finished repairing it. Only painting is left. The bumper itself is quite tough. Lucky me

Strange...good luck fixing it good.

BTW 115km/h (72 MPH) is really not fast, espacially in Europe...it's my daily speed on highway here. Maybe you meant that it was fast speed to lose his rear bumper ! Yeah I acknowledge !
