Mirror question

Mirror question

Postby HID04V6 » Mon Aug 21, 2006 7:50 pm

I have an 04 SLE V6. I am wondering if BOTH exterior side mirrors are supposed to dim when headlights hit them. As of now, my rear view mirror in the car dims and the drivers side mirror dims when lights hit it, but the passenger side one does not. The only reason that I'm asking is because the dealership snapped the original one off and replaced it (with much argument from me)- so I'm wondering if they put the wrong on on. Thanks!

^^correctamundo...only the rear view and driver's side mirrors are electrochromatic.

As a side note, when does the heat turn on? When defroster is on? My last car has little defroster symbols on each mirror to indicate they were heated, but the Solara doesn't have these. In the other car, the defroster turned the heat on in the mirror...of course, I couldn't have a car with heated mirrors when I lived in Buffalo, I had to get them when living in Orlando!

The mirror heats when the Rear Window defroster is on.

Yeah, only the driver side mirror dims, but as far as I know both of them have defrosting. I have a paste-on blind spot mirror on both sides, and during winter I used the defoggers and the side mirrors cleared in about 3 minutes even despite a slight bit of frost (or usu. by the time I reached the freeway), but the blind spot mirrors would stay fogged throughout the whole commute, just like the full mirrors of my past cars.
