The MAINT light flashes when I turn the car on...?

Postby RDKamikaze » Thu Aug 17, 2006 3:13 pm

Ok, so I got in my the other day and noticed when I turned it on that the MAINT light flashed after the usual startup, but didn't stop. It kept going for about 5-7 flashes I didn't count, what should I do? Is there a flash code for X amount of flashes = what or do I just pop the hood and see what I can do? Thanks for the info!

The MAINT light starts to flash when it's near time to change the oil. When you start the and stays on, that means the oil needs to be changed NOW. Once the oil has been changed, the light needs to be reset. I will have to refer to my owners manual for that one. But if you have yours, look for the instructions to re-set the lamp.

to reset the maint light,

make sure that your odometer shows actual odometer, not trip meter.
take the key out if it's in the ignition.
put the key, and press and hold odometer button.
while you are holding, turn the key to on position.
you will see odometer changes to "------"
and start reducing the number of line.
once you see all 0 on your odometer, your maint light is reset.
let me know if you have any trouble.

LOL - It happens to all of us. The owners manual does read like stereo installation instructions filled with silly precautions.
