Swapping Injectors .......

Has anyone ever tried changing out their injectors from their 1MZ-FE to the injectors from the 2JZ-GE from the SC300 to try to fix leaning out problem that appears when more boost is applied? From anything that I've read, they should fit, and as they are a larger injector capable of greater fuel delivery, the problem should theoretically be fixed. I'm not sure if this would create problems with the ECU or any of the sensors within the engine, but like I say, it's all theoretical. What do you think?

I think Jim @ Foreign Affairs has done this already. So has Glok, both on Camryman. But they are building up their motors so on a stock application, it wouldn't just be a plug and play type of thing.

As flip said it has been done before. Alot of guys on teamsc3.com and camryman.org are starting to get involved with this. It really depends what boost you are running. The problem with the mixture going lean at higher psi is because your engine can't compensate for the higher boost, thats why a S-afc helps. At around 6psi or above your injectors can't handle much more and your hp gains become very small.

I have changed injectors. You need fuel managment to "trim" the new injectors.

Okay, now that I know that it HAS been done, can a person start boosting in excess of 6 psi safely or is it still not recommended (with S-AFC of course)? I got a really good tax return, so I'm just tossing around some ideas.

You can safely boost over 6 with bigger injectors and fuel and timing controls or fuel controls and race gas.
