1/4 miles Time slip

Postby Down2TheC » Tue Aug 01, 2006 5:15 am

From watching Michaels_artic_frost do starts (and he knows what he's doing) I wouldn't go past 2000. And don't do it in nuetral!!! Have it in drive, pull the e-brake and rev to 2k. Drop the brake and gun it.

Besides... the track will give you your electronic time with the reaction time separate. So Start to finish will be the same pretty much either way. You might get a little faster roll over the line with a jump.

thanks !!

yeah...don't worry I wouldn't try it in neutral anyway...

when talking of e-brake you talk of hand-brake ?? Mine will not stand even an under 2000 RPM push...you must talk of the normal brakes ??

If I see the picture correctly, I would say...something like 1.5 seconds before the GO light I could rev under 2000 RPM (gear 1 S position) brakes on...and launch it like that ?? It's important for me to be sure of the technique, you know...crap happens ! :P

I was number 91, I took a pic after the night...it was my first drag experience ! I made over my expectation !!

My first run was 15.278 @ 95.160 MPH
My second and best run is 15.124 @ 95.080 MPH

I cannot change the gear in 4th because it arrives exactly at the 1/4 mile finish...first run I let it in 3rd getting the "cut-off" (I'm a bit faster in MPH) and second run I tried to shift in 4th it seems that I lost a little bit of speed doing tthat. Also my start in first run was tapping the gas at the green light (just beofre calculating the lag of the tranny...even in S mode) Second run I push the brakes on put it at 2000 RPM and gun it at the green light...better start for sure. I ask my friend to film us on the dragway...he all mess up with my camera...I will have more vids next time. There are my car and the 2 time slip...my second run what "against" a pretty heavy tuned Mustang (2767). The weather was 65F and about 55% humidity. Without a doubt...CP-e http://www.cp-e.com rocks !!!!!!!!!!! Maybe I can say I'm the fastest Gen 2 Solara !!? 8) :P There is so sleeping power under the hood...

I think you'll have to save to disk the pics before zooming-in

Very nice results dude. I had little doubt you'd break the Convertible scores, as the coupe is substantially lighter. But yeah, it's nice to finally get some proof that we run in the low 15s without much modification.

As far as having the "fastest Gen 2" goes, I have my doubts about that... Mostly considering that, due to the limited aftermarket support, many of us have pretty much identical performance setups (larger diameter rims, better tires, TRD muffler, SRI, FSTB, RSB, springs)... Also, there is one dude I know of who supposedly sprays...

Damn :o Sweet numbers there.
So what the hell's wrong with the ragtop!?
I'll have to get out there again and see if I can do better. I needed the intake just to break 16.

When I went I was trying to compare stock v. cp-e, so I didn't want the start to enter into the numbers. So I was just flooring it when I saw the light. That may be a part.

Thanks down2t !! CP-e MAFci was pulling me strongly !! I will aim for the high 14's !!! I will return at the end of the month ! :D

The reaction time doesn't count in the final time. It's moslty for real drag racing...the first at the finish line. Your time start to be timed when you go out the starting box when the back sensor detect that you're gone.

I went with a friend that know pretty much about drag...his friend is in professional monster dragster running the 1/4 mile in the 7 seconds !!!!!!!!

I saw yesterday a monster 442 Monte Carlo running 10.09. They were in a pratice session yesetrday (they are in Pro series NHRA)...they were pretty upset....I ask them about the amazing time...they told me it was really too slow ! :o
