The TRD Gen 1 SC doesn't work for the Gen 2; a couple people have looked into modding it to work with no luck.

If you have the 4 banger there are a couple potential options... a couple people have turbo'd gen 1s, and the Gen 2 4 banger is a carry over.

Good luck

your motor is not boost friendly because high compression and lack of aftermarket part support. if you really want a turbo, you should considering to sell your car

Put it this way. There are no turbo KITS for Solaras.

A turbo kit would include and intercooler with piping, turbo manifold, turbo itself etc. etc. Any turbo could theoreticly work if put under the hood of the Solara, but there are essentially NO parts made by ANY manufacturer to get the turbo to work. You see, when you buy a turbo kit, you're buying everything you need to make the turbo functional at least to an extent. These kits usually come with a turbo sized, and fitted to work optimally with your car as per determined by the kits manufacturer. But seeing as no one makes a kit for your car, your only option is going custom. This includes fabrication of an exhaust manifold for the turbo, intercooler piping, test fitting which kind of universal intercooler would work best, choosing which turbo unit itself you would like to do and more. As you can imagine custom fabrication of anything quality in any of those areas is going to cost some $, and a good amoutn of it. There are "universal" turbo kits that are cheap and usable to base a turbo setup off of, but you still have the issue of attaching the compressor housing/turbo etc to the manifold itself.

Go to www.howstuffworks.com and search turbocharger, I know they have a basic article that's not too tech so you can understand how a turbo works. From there you'll understand the problem in turbocharging a car that doesn't have a kit on the market.

Hope that answers your questions a little better. And don't mind mandarinsolara, he's a honduh fucktard.
