That's WEIRD! Does the emergency pull inside the trunk no longer work too?

My 06 doesn't even have a keyhole on the trunk. Can only be opened with the fob or the lever inside the car.

The emergency tab should work (but then again my 99 doesn't have the emergency release). The keying is the valet function; if you don't want a valet to be messin' with yo' sheeit, you lock it and neither the valet key or the cabin release should work, but the master key and emergency lever would open it.

There is also a little black tab on the back of the seats that could lock the levers on the back seats from making your seats fold down (coupes only)to prevent Mr. Valet from gettng smart when the trunk lid is locked.

What else for "didn't knows"... The Gen1 (at least SLE) actually has an alarm system but the doesn't chirp (but if you open the trunk, hood or door the horn will go off AND hit the "door lock" function every 1.6 seconds). Many people (including Longo when I asked why it didn't chirp when I first bought my car) think that it's not an alarm though.

This isn't about Solaras, but I've almost always noticed that when a Ford (even Lincoln and Mercury) steps on the brakes it almost always blinks like a broken flourescent bulb for the first few seconds (This proves their technological-savviness well, doesn't it?). Hell, I saw an 80's Lincoln do it almost nonstop amidst stop-and-go traffic until he got pulled over, and the cop (in a Crown Victoria) had the taillight blinking too!

At least in SoCal, For 7 out of 10 Gen4 Camries that I see on the road (including my mom's, but it used to belong to my aunt when she was learning how to drive), there's accident damage on the car. I'm not talking a door chip from some prick opening their door too wide or rocks chipping the front bumper, but a big dent, scrape along the side of the car, missing parts (e.g. headlight, bumper) or a different-colored panel somewhere.

... and I haven't learned wtf FOB really stands for yet.
Best theory I've heard is that the "beep beep" gets the attention of the ladies so it's "Finder Of Bitches"

Fob = keyfob = an item that goes onto your keychain.

FOB = Slang for "Fresh Off the Boat", which is irrelevant to cars, but it means that you just came to America (usually used in conjunction with not knowing crap about the cultral differences or what you're doing). However, if the person has literally been here forever, it's used somewhat as a putdown (e.g. "quit acting like a FOB, you know where the post office is, damnit").

Here's a bunch of other acronyms:

Geez - now back in my day (yes, THAT far back!) we used to see how many guys we could stuff in the trunk to sneak into the Drive-in movies. Of course we also had to allow enough room for the beer as well, but then they got to enjoy on on the ride back there (payment for having to ride in the trunk!) LOL!

We're also talking about early 70's style American boats as well - much bigger trunks than the Solara! ;)

Don't worry...I'm younger than you and I did that too...although, the drive-ins died a quick death shortly after I got my driver's license in 1986.

Damn - you really ARE younger than me. :o

I must be the official "SG Fossil" here. I got my license in 1975, but was driving the farm truck and tractors since 1970. Why don't I feel that old? I like a lot of the same music my kids listen to for goodness sakes!

LOL when I first got my SenCrap my friends wanted to ride around in it, but they stalled me while they were checking out the car and put one guy in the trunk, then halfway through he starts wailing for the hell of it... Scared the crap out of me! Then I popped the trunk and he was fake-snoring, but don't let anybody do this on another SenCrap... The cheap pressboard lid that covers the donut is W E A K and there was a small crack, then broke a week later when I carried something kinda heavy. Glad my dealer managed to sneak a replacement in.

Haha it's all at heart bro, you're only as old as you feel :-) I don't think any of us really view you as "old"; you're pretty much on top of any topics / conversations on the board.
