Coat over the leather is peeling off.

Did you get seom sort of "Protection Package" that included leather treatment? I guess it's possible that I have some coating that I can't see but it really feels like leather on that part to me.
P.S. The spots in the handle part make it look like someone sprayed something on that thing at one point. g/l

Ok dude, since you went to Ourisman Fairfax I can help you out a bit... I wasn't aware that you are from Northern VA...

Who did you speak to? I'll take my car in there and have something done about it... that way they will have seen another instance of it.

Let me know...

I did not catch his name. (I'm bad with names anyway.) But I was told that he is the manager.
He seemed to be in 50s and had gray hair.

K, I believe that's Ken... I'll check into it and let you know what I come out with. It will probably be either this weekend or next weekend (I'll be in San Antonio on business next week, and I'll be pretty busy for the rest of this week).

I don't remember getting anything like that.
That stain was from rain drops and probably also small drops of window cleaner.

Hi Guys, in terms of this whole leather peeling, I have been arguing with my toyota dealer over the leather door panel, because first I was told I could get it under Warranty, and then the assistant manager got mad and me and ripped up my papers, I tried to deal with a sane person at toyota but I am failing miserably. It seems anyone that should be in charge isn't and anyone that is, is not very accomadating. Therefore, I am going to be suing the manager at my toyota and beginning a law suit, allowing anyone that has this problem to contact Toyota after I begin the suit.

If you are having trouble with the finish on your door panel please just list, that you are below. I am going to be submitting this print out of door panel troubles to a rep from Toyota headquaters. I have heard from sources that it will be a simple case to win and once I do, it will have to be warrantied for anyone that has a problem with the door panel.

I'm having the same door problem on both passenger and driver sides. I'll gladly send/post pictures if this can be a major step toward getting the finish warrantied

Holy CRAP! That looks like ASSS!! :o

I sure hope they're going to take care of that! So does this mean that the people having this problem are Nor-Easters? Maybe it's a regional prob?

Just looking out for it in case its a manufacturing thing instead of some "protective coating" the dealers up there are doing...

Good luck - and keep us posted!

Not to worry J, Not a lot of Kentucky builds in this list. And I'm guessing that if you don't get it wet a lot, then it won't happen. Mine's in tact after 27 months/22k miles/no water/no cleaner. (just elbow dents.)

And I hear that it don't rain in SoCal, right?

Hey Mike, I guess the converts have a different arm rest than the coupes do... Mine looks like lambition's... (minus the crap peeling all the way down, I just have one small spot on my driver's side).

I'm surprised the dealer won't replace it. Can't be too much money..
Geez, I compained about a scratch on my scuff plate and the dealer orered me a new one..Try the BBB first..Whatever happens don't get yourself all bent out of shape over a car.. this should be the biggest problem you ever have to deal with.

Just a long shot here, but I wonder if there is a difference between the door panels on an SLE and an SE- the door panels are different. Look at the picture of the one that is peeling off, which I am assuming is on an SE trim level car. The pic of the car that is not peeling is a door panel off of an SLE, which if you compare the pix, the two are entirely different. The door panel in the SE is probably just a coated plastic panel, where the SLE has a leather material on it. My 04 SLE is fine after 2 years of ownership and several cleanings.

well i have an SE...sport though....black leather interior....
might have something to do with the trim level
i haven't had problems with it and ive had it for a year....
and at school it rained like crazy....my school even flooded
so could be a trim problem with the se?

I have an SE Sport... I believe the SLE has the same rests and such. I believe the main difference is between the convertible and the coupe (which the pics are taken of), and not necessarily the trim levels of the coupe themselves.
