Sorry to hear, hope everything works out. If you nab those sunzabitches, I'd fly out there and kick their asses (with airfare covered though ;-) ).

Are the cops even going to check into the kids? Or are they giving you the "don't expect anything back" line? Sad that you're out a couple $K and the rats that stole it won't make a dime for it all. Why even do it? Idiots!
If it happened just now, check the dumpsters at work. The moron's don't know the bags worth money. Prolly took what they thought they could get $$ from and dumped the rest.

Honestly, I dont think the cop is going to do anything.I asked if anyone complained about this and no one has.The last thing the cop said to me was "good luck".Thanks alot buddy. My father had to come to my job ( half hour away) and bring me my spare key.He checked the dumpsters and there was nothing. My bf also left work to disengage my aftermarket alarm cuz i couldnt get in with out the remote.I also walked around the whole building and checked the outside garbages.I only got to glance at them, couldnt get into it. Everyone thinks they just took the money also and threw the bag somewhere cuz it would be odd for 2 guys to walk around with a womens bag.

Funny thing is, I work at an attorneys office.Everone thinks they had balls to do what they did at an office like that. I work in a building with 7 floors and tons of suites.Unfortunately im out of it.
I appreciate everyones posts..

The thing that sucks about this in general (way beyond all the hardship you've endured, and believe me I've been through it a few times as well!) - is that little fukerz like that really ruin it for the honest kids who are truly trying to raise money for their organization or a chance to do something to better their lives. It gets to a point where you begin to distrust anyone who is in your space unless they're co-workers or people you know. I've actually had clients steal crap from my studio before! :o (yeah, you can bet they "paid" for it one way or another when the invoice was due!) ;)

Sad commentary on our culture. Identity theft is rampant right now and the easiest crime to pull off and totally get away with!

According to the major credit bureaus, most retailers, banks and creditors won't try to hunt-down and prosecute credit card theft until it's over a minimum of $10K - and that number is increasing every year because of the number of cases is rising. Many wait until the theft is $20K or more, and the theives know this. They can buy up tons of crap for under $10K on your credit cards, turn around and sell it online and pocket the money. In the mean time, our intrest rates rise because we have to offset the loss the CC companies endure from the theft - not to mention the hassle of watchdogging all of your accounts!

Oh - the same goes for checking accounts. I've had people do that twice to my account over the years (both personal and business accounts). All you need is a routing number and a checking account number from anyone, and you can print up your own checks on your inkjet printer and go all over town writing bad checks. If its on someone's legit bank account - regardless of the name on the check, it won't pop up on the Chex system until its reported. You can write a lot of bad checks in a few days with a fake ID!

Damn! If I wanted to be a freakin' crook, I could make a ton o' cash in short time! Why is it that the bastards get away with it???!!!

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear that this happened to you. It sounds like you are doing the right things, though, to protect yourself.

One additional thing I'd recommend is to monitor your credit report for the next 6 months to a year. If they got your purse and license...they can steal your identity...which might have been the purpose of the theft. You need to watch your credit to make sure no new accounts show up that you did not open.

As PXL mentioned, ID theft is on the rise, and it can be surprisingly easy and can RUIN your credit.

Please take my adice and check your credit (each bureau) every so often for a while to make sure you are OK.

I'd also put a consumer statement on your credit with all three credit bureaus that instructs anyone granting credit to someone using your name and SS# to call you first. You put your home and work number on it, and anyone who gets a credit application in your name is supposed to call you at those numbers and only those numbers. This will be a great way to make sure that no one steals your identity. And, if someone does open an account while you have that statement on there, and they don't call you first, you have a leg to stand on, since they did not follow the law. Also, put your purse in a locked drawer.

Best of luck to you, I hope they catch the little shits.

Sorry to hea Alisha, let me know the deal with the situation. When you get it done I'll hit up the dealership with you, my boyz will take care of your ryde. You know I'll look out for you as much as I can.

Holla at me when you get the chance.....also would be a good idea to invest in a "Autolock" ($59.99) so ur ryde doesn't go anywhere over night.

Does it show up as "??" ?
I wrote Good Luck in Chinese characters (Which Chineses, Koreans, and Japanese share. Not sure if the characters are exactly same). I thought it went in as unicode, which should have no problem showing up in non asian windows.

Maybe you still need to install eastern asian language support...
