Volk Racing Rims on 215/35 Rubber y/n?

Volk Racing Rims on 215/35 Rubber y/n?

I live in Chicago. Needless to say, the roads can occasionaly be pretty bad here.

I plan on getting some VR rims and they come with 35 profile rubber. My biggest fear is bending the rims. Rays makes good rims, but I was wondering if they could get damaged. Should I get them? Getting just the rims is not an option. Opinions from people with similar Tire width is priceless.Thanks. :fadein:

Sebrings

Sebrings. They are less expensive and are cast. But they look amazing!

I'd have to agree. I wouldn't reccomend anything below 40 series if the roads are bad. No matter how strong the rims are, you'll still get blow outs, and then if the tire shreads off, you run the risk of damaging the rim them

BTW, when the rims are bent, the chances are, the sidewalls of the tires got damaged also.

bending rims

Postby canuck » Sun Mar 16, 2003 10:02 am

hey, the roads in montreal are bad especially now - spring=potholes.
i just blew out my tire on wednesday and i bent the stock 16" alloy.
all i could say is good thing i didn't have low profiles on 18" mags.
but i know that yokohama and goodyear offer rubber with rim protectors.

Chances are, the rims are already bent and the sidewalls have been damaged.

I wouldn't go with the 215/35, especially in chicago. I'd personally go with 45's. But even w/ 45's i've bent on of my rims driving in the Chicago.

Why only 225/35? The proper size is 225/40 or even 235/40 for an 18" wheel.
