sorry to burst ur bubble but this isnt just wit new cars, even in my friends 95 oldsmobile it's the same thing.
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

haha.. i never thought about it but i guess i kinda took it for granted since i always take out my key and roll the windows up..
even if the passenger gets out my window keeps goin up as long as i start before they open the door..
and the new jersey comment is very tru... very useful when rollin down to talk to the guy pumpin the gas.. althou the gas station i frequent already knows my car and starts filling the tank before i can talk

I guess I'm a bit spoiled with it... My '90 Mercury Cougar had power reserve for windows, as did my '93 Celica GT... My '97 Pathfinder didn't, though, and that actually came to me as a shocker...

But yeah, a lot of the GM vehicles carry the power reserve over to their radio as well, which I guess is actually kinda cool... Odd, though, that their windows are still timed and the radio isn't (it operates 'till you open the doors in all the current GM vehicles I've been in)...

`95 4Runner has it. Wish it worked after the door is open. That's when I notice the open window.

Well one thing that I must say about newer BMWs is that you can turn on the radio without the key, and even older GMs (like my '91 Buick Century's stock radio and my grandma's '88 Chevy Corsica) could display the clock when you hit the "Recall" button.

Also when I took my 'Lara in for service, I was given a Ford Focus as a loaner car, and the clock in the radio was on practically 24/7 AND also able to be powered on by pressing the Power button, which would show "1 HOUR" and then turn on, AND their Audiophile sound system has DSP (surround sound effects, driver-optimized balance control, automatic volume adjustment, etc.) plus a detachable security "stick" the size of a pen that even has a pocket loop.

With those in mind, it's almost sad considering that Toyotahasn't catched on with at least the clock... Sometimes when you're early for work and waiting in your car for the doors to open and forgot your watch (but don't feel like looking for your phone or keys), that used to be a really convenient feature.
