I get around 29 mpg on my 4 banger around 60/40 highway / city driving. I also like to go past cars on corners on the curvy road to work (hard acceleration).

Anyway, my last trip to visit my parents takes me about 1:15 to get there...highway most of the way, but lots of traffic and ups and downs. I always do about 70 mph on highway...the result: 35 mpg on whole trip including about 5-10% ciry driving...not bad!

Damn, that's pretty bad... Hope that's just an inaccuracy (but then again it's hard to say unless you're visiting the pumps more often too)

I know this is a 4-banger thread, but I see a lot of V6 posters here anyway... ;)

I drive like a bat outta hell :evilbat: and the worst MPG Ave I've had was about 18.5 - almost all city driving on two wheels! ;)

I get 25-27 driving back and forth to work on my V6. The Trip Computer though tells me my average is 27-29, so it tends to be a little high.

Gas Mileage

Postby DJJ » Thu Jun 22, 2006 11:34 am

I know this may sound a little far fetched but my car is telling me right now that it's getting 35.2 avg. mpg. I have a 4 cyclinder, 5 speed. Drive maybe 50/50 city/ highway. When I figure it out by hand only once has the car been dead on with my figures. Mostly it's 2 mpg higher. I don't drive like a grandma nor an I heavy on the gas pedal...

I drive mostly in the city. Most of the time I get 28-29 mpg and I can go for over a month without refueling. I don't put a lot of miles into the car and I drive only when I need to.

geminiz wrote:Are you normally a city driver? Do you always get that AVG MPG on the Meter? I calculate my gas mileage by hand and it's around 18-19. The Meter is usually higher by 1 or 2 miles. I also have a 4 cylinder and have never gotten anything higher than 20 MPG. During winter, when you idle to warm up your car, it burns more gasoline I believe.

I always get 20+mpg on my '06 4banger. The lowest I've gotten so far has been 22mpg avg and I race my friends and stuff. I'm also from AZ where I'm running the A/C constantly (even at night) unless I'm killing some of my friends in races :)

Seems weird to me...but after a 100mile some drive, I got 36 mpg @ 70 mph and a few acceleration burst. Has that low mileage problem shown itself again?

no, it was just that one time it showed.

I am getting at least an average of 28 mpg per tank these days and thats with using the AC, occasionally hard acceleration, and stop and go traffic.

I can eke out about 330-350 miles before the light comes on (~75% highway miles)...

If 100% highway, about 400 miles.

(I usually try to fill up before the light comes on)
