Because the pace cars already have the safety strobes, safety equipment, modded motors, suspension, special paint job and etc done, it would be pointless to redo that on another brand new car. All Solara pace cars are manual transmission 1MZ-FE V6 S/C and ivory interior (mostly cloth...handful of leather).

What league do they use the pacecars for. Are they for NASCAR?

They look gorgeous btw. Flip, do you still know all the stats off the top of your head.
(When we had a thread a while ago about the old pace car, flip was able to name almost every mod off the top of his head :D)

Those pace cars are from the CART racing series. I guess they were built when Toyota was still a major sponsor of CART...now toyotas pulled out, but they still use the Tundra support trucks and this pace car.

Don't forget about the Matrix. As for the pace cars...there are several of them that Toyota has. One will eventually make it to the Toyota Museum here in SoCal along with the older Celica, SC400, Supra and GS400 PPG pacecars.

Toyota used the Solara all 4 years of production. The SC430 and the IS300 were used but on a limited basis. The Matrix pace car has been most prominent lately along with the Solara.

Specs

Postby JMSinMaryland » Sat Mar 08, 2003 4:27 pm

Any idea what the offset on the rims are? I tried contacting them to see if they had to roll, etc but no reply. Those would look nice, difference between 205 and 225 is huge, imagine 20 more, emm. Jon.
