Clunk in the trunk revisited

According to TSB, appears to be logged as 1.9 hours labor...I can tell you that it did not take 4 hours to do mine. They did the TSB, changed the oil and fixed a leak in window gasket in total of 2.5 hours.

I'm sure he wanted to make it sound like they had to move a mountain.
Maybe buckin for a tip or at least a nice comment on the follow up survey.

More Questions than Answers

Well if the TSB fixed the problem for some of you, it makes me wonder if it was even done to mine or done right anyway. They spent 3 1/4 hours but the oil was changed and the tires were rotated during that time as well.

I wonder if a guy could tell by crawling under the car and looking for any "new" clean parts? I just wish the noise would go away.

I thank all of you for sharing your experiences with this issue.

Oh by-the-way, I did perform one TSB that did work myself. That was the one that had to do with poor radio reception in early 2004 models. Mine fell within the serial number range and I couldn’t receive the Milwaukee and Chicago AM stations I liked to listen to in my previous cars and thought jeeze what cheap radio tuner in such a nice car.

So I tore the trim panel off of the right rear pillar and sure enough the wires were reversed at the antenna amplifier just like the TSB said. I reversed them and wow what a difference in radio reception! I'm glad I read this forum or I never would have known the poor reception was even fixable.

Maybe there’s a quota and I only get one successful TSB a year or something. :)

update

Well for the first time i had something fixed right from toyota. They performed the TSB on the rear and its like a different car!. So smooth and quiet. I did have to jump through some hoops to get it done but...i have to say its nice to finally get the car i paid for. They changed the strut mounts and the struts themselves. They even gave me a coupon rate for the mobil one oil change i had them do. The rep really took care of me.
And i greased the old palm too. That made a friend for the future. Positive reinforcment for a job well done. You dont mind tipping if the jobs done right. Nice to see a happy ending. If you havent had this TSB done yet, what are you waiting for? Take advantage of anyting you can get. At the very least youll have 2 new struts on your 2 year old solara.
