Any good suggestions? I know our car is kinda heavy, what stuff we can take out or replace with some light stuff?

hood, seats, you can gut ur whole car, but its ugly, take out the spare, replace all panels with fiberglass panels....going hardcore, just make a solara shell and put it on a lighter chassis :D

for real...our car IS heavy...fiberglassing the panels is a very good idea (i would know lol) and removing the spare saves about 25 or so lbs. also carbon fiber hood will do some good...and oh yea...remove the big heavy machine under the hood...thatll lighten it up LOL! L8r moe :evilbat:

Talk is easy, money is everything...

but anyway know any sites for the fiberglass panels? the disadvantage is i'm a daily driver like 100 miles least every day, the lighter the body is, the risk is more when involved with accidents....does it need extra custom mount if i got the hood?

General rule of thumb: For every 100lbs you take off, you go 0.1 second faster in the quarter mile...

I bet your bum-dyno can't even feel the difference... and you have put up with troubles such as flat tire with no spare? Is it worth it? :-?

I took out my spare, but it was to be underneath 100+ lbs of bolted in stereo gear :P. Somehow, I don't think it would have done me much good :).

BTW how much do you guys think fiberglass fenders would cost? Would it be worth it?? Also, what are the advantages in having a carbon fiber hood vs. a fiberglass hood?

Unless you're just looking for something temporary to do at the track, is it really worth it to lighten the car by 100 or so lbs? The CF hood is really more for looks than anything. If you just want the car to feel less heavy, get some lightweight alloy rims and reduce the unsprung weight. That will have a much greater impact per pound than the stuff being mentioned here, at least as far as handling goes. Now, if you're looking to shave every fraction of a second off 1/4 mile times or lap times, then follow all the suggestions here.

I just really wondered if the Carbon Fiber hood was any better as if I bought one, I would just paint it black. I am really trying to find ways to offset stereo weight. Thanks for the advice.

Don't worry about the additional weight. It does a lot more damage then you can compensate for. A heavy stereo in the trunk offsets the Front to rear balance, adds additional weight, but you wont feel much of a differnce at all. Why have 25 pounds from your car by screwing yourself if you get a flat. Just dont get the system if you are that worried but its no big deal at all. The CF hood is truely for looks and maybe the added strength.
