experts: returnless fuel system question

Postby jhenty » Tue May 16, 2006 7:53 pm

Im getting down to the final parts for the turbo kit and I have a question that should be simple for someone out there. Is is safer to convert to a return style and run a FPR (and the other obvious upgrades) or to keep the returnless and use an FPR that also regulates on returnless fuel systems? The reason I ask this is because the cost for both ends up the same with one being more work. However I want the most reliable system possible so I am perfectly willing to put the time in to build a return style. Thanks in advance.

i'd like to know the answer to this one too. But for me, I'd like to keep it returnless, but modded so I wont have to hack up the fuel area and keep everything close to stock.

Return style fuel is better so you can get a good constant amount of fuel pressure

your only choice is running fuel return system. your second option does not make any sense. a return fpr does not work in returnless system.

theres a few FPRs on the market that now work with returnless systems, however they are very expensive, which is why I asked. It seems like return is the way to go though.

if you can raise the fuel pressure in a returnless fuel system, where does the excess fuel go if there is no fuel return line?

fuel

Postby trd4life » Wed May 17, 2006 8:14 am

I went through this with one of my camrys. I tapped the top of the fuel pickup assembly, ran a -6 fuel ine with an inline pump , and used the factory feed line as a return line. I adjust fuel pressure with an aeromotive regulator. The cost of the whole setup was about $300 from what i recall.

on a returnless the fuel stays up by the engine in the rail and gets hot...thats something to think about also...if i were to stay returnless i would have to rig up a fuel rail cooling system . and run a in line fuel cooler.

i think i would rather just go return style . If you want control over fuel pressure, do a return style system and have cooler fuel to boot.
